💅What are the benefits of cuticle oil?💅

Do long and strong nails sound good to you? Yes!!! We thought so🙂. Keeping your cuticles hydrated keeps them healthy, which stimulates blood flow to the fingers when massaged in, it also helps keep the nail hydrated which also promotes stronger, faster-growing nails that means your nails will be less likely to chip, break or split due to hydration and the solid foundations of the cuticles .

If we get sick then we can't work, unfortunately that means no income for us or the salon and also means we also have to reschedule your appointments, which in previous times we've had clients that weren't to happy about us being unwell having to reschedule..

What sort of enhancement we use and why.

You’ve probably already heard of hard gel enhancements, even if you’re not quite sure what exactly they are. Well, they refer to a nail enhancement that differs from acrylic nails in that they cure under LED light instead of through evaporating solvents. However, they’re not the same as soft gel or gel polish. Hard gel allows you to extend the length of your nails, and they can be shaped and sculpted in the same manner as acrylic and is a self levelling which mean a more natural finish then bulky acrylic.You can even also apply gel polish over hard gel.

So why use hard gel instead of acrylics? Well, this innovative nail enhancement technique offers benefits that are unique to it. Let’s have a look at these.

It’s hypoallergenic..
Hard gel is hypoallergenic, meaning it is less likely than acrylic to trigger allergies than acrylic.

It’s stronger than acrylic and more flexible too.
Hard gel is actually not as hard as acrylic, however, it is more flexible and stronger than acrylic. If you’ve become accustomed to acrylic nails or SNS, you may judge hard gel to be weaker based on how it feels, but that’s not actually true. Hard gel is a lot better at being able to withstand relatively high pressure, meaning it is less likely to break or crack than acrylic. Because of its flexibility, it is also more resistant to lifting. If any lifting does occur, the hard gel will remain close to your natural nail, making it less troublesome as the chance of it catching is smaller.

Of course, if it’s flexed beyond its stretching point, hard gel will crack too. But even if it does break, its higher flexibility leads to less nail trauma. This results in less damage to the natural nail.

There’s better adhesion..
The flexibility of the hard gel also leads to it feeling a lot more natural on the nail, since it is able to move along with the natural nail. Since the gel will be able to naturally seep into all of the crevices of the natural nail, this means the gel will stick to the nail better and be less likely to lift.

So if you've always had trouble with lifting, cracking or breaking from acrylic then hard gel is the product for you. Why not book in and try it for yourself 🙂👌 💅

Let's talk SNS !

We get enquiries daily about SNS and if we offer it in our salon.. the simple answer is NO and here is why.

One of the main concerns with the use of SNS is that it can be unhygienic, most salons will be dipping your fingers in a communal pot which can result in nail infections fungal or bacterial.

The ‘vitamins’ present in the formula are so minimal, any claim of strengthening your natural nails is negligible.

Another reason the SNS procedure tends to weaken nails is the removal process. This is an inflexible product, so any breaks or lifting usually takes your own nail with it or result in nasty nail trauma! People prone to picking or removing can also peel away layers of their own nails with the product.

If you get an acetone soak-off before every SNS procedure this is bad news too, constant soaking in acetone completely dehydrates the nail bed and leads to brittle nails that rely on enhancements to survive.

The use of drills (E-files) before each treatment doesn’t help either, causing the nail to weaken each time.

So to get to the point here, there is no product you can apply to the existing nail that will change the existing structure of the nail plate. However, nail enhancements are designed to protect the nail for functionality and cosmetic purposes.

Good morning ladies, just a quick post about NO SHOWS!! If for what ever reason you can not attend your appointment then please call!!!! It takes 2min to make a quick call, it's becoming abit more regular lately and it's completely disrespectful not only to the business but to other clients waiting on the list to get an appointment..

Glos Nail Bar would like to introduce our newest team member Emily. Emily is a fully qualified beauty therapist and new to the gel nail world, previously having experience in acrylic enhancements, manis, pedis and shellac nails.

With Nicola heading onto maternity leave on the 12th of March and with Katie booked to capacity, we'd like to welcome all new clients in with Emily.

As Emily is still learning we will be offering all gel enhancements at a slightly discounted rate and we please ask for patience and understanding as she is still getting the hang of gel enhancements, but we're very confident in her ability and work and we can't wait to mould her into the amazing nail tech she is already becoming 💅

Just another quick note.. if you book an appointment and you can no longer attend please let us know, it takes literally 2 min to make a quick phone call to let us know. If you no show more then twice you will be black listed!!! As we will be down a team member we will only be running with 2 nails techs, if you'd like to book an appointment please understand that there is only 2 techs working and that we may not be able to cater for your needs the day and time you desire, please try book ahead as we are by appointment only.
