So beautiful. 41 weeks ❤️

Twin 1 born, waiting for baby number 2...
This beautiful photo is of a twin birth at home when the mother was 41 weeks gestation. Baby number 1 has just been born and baby number 2 is still waiting to make an entrance.
Absolutely stunning 😍
Just shows what can be achieved when the birthing woman is surrounded by love and trust ❤️

I love this and everything about natural childbirth❤️

Check out this shot of a momma using gravity and allowing her body to open.

The "Rhombus of Michaelis" (sometimes called the quadrilateral of Michaelis) is a kite-shaped area that includes the three lower lumber vertebrae, the sacrum and that long ligament which reaches down from the base of the scull to the sacrum.
This wedge-shaped area of bone moves backwards during the second stage of labour and as it moves back it pushes the wings of the ilea out, increasing the diameters of the pelvis. We know it’s happening when the woman’s hands reach upwards (to find something to hold onto, her head goes back and her back arches.) It’s what Sheila Kitzinger was talking about when she recorded Jamaican midwives saying the baby will not be born ‘till the woman opens her back’. I’m sure that is what they mean by the ‘opening of the back’. “The reason that the woman’s arms go up is to find something to hold onto as her pelvis is going to become destabilised. This happens as part of physiological second stage; it’s an integral part of an active normal birth. If you’re going to have a normal birth you need to allow the rhombus of Michaelis to move backwards to give the baby the maximum amount of space to turn his shoulders in. Although the rhombus appears high in the pelvis and the lower lumbar spine when it moves backwards, it has the effect of opening the outlet as well.“When women are leaning forward, upright, or on their hands and knees, you will see a lump appear on their back, at and below waist level. It’s much higher up than you might think; you don’t look for it near her buttocks, you look for it near her waist."

A fabric womb made by Angélique du Coudray, a French midwife who was commissioned by King Louis XV to reduce infant mortality. From 1760 to 1783, she traveled all over France, visiting poor rural women and sharing her extensive knowledge with them. It is estimated that she trained some 10,000 women.
Du Coudray also invented the first lifesize obstetrical mannequin, for practicing mock births, and published a well-received midwifery textbook

Here are some frequently asked questions and answers about pregnancy massage.

Is it safe to be massaged whilst pregnant?
Yes, absolutely. As with all massages,we chat first about medical history and current health before the massage begins, and if all is well, we get started!

Do I have to lie on my tummy?
No. In fact after 16 weeks gestation I prefer my clients to be comfortably laying on their side, supported by pillows, rather than in a moulded pregnancy frame pillow. Side massage provides optimal comfort for relaxation.

I'm worried that I might fall asleep!
Don't be, in fact its a great compliment to your therapist if you do! Lot's of people doze off during massage, especially busy mums with toddlers. So just allow your body to relax, and if that means having a quick snooze, so be it!

I'm embarrassed that my tummy might grumble during massage, or worse, that I might pass wind!
Lol, aren't we all? But that's what our bodies do, when they are in relax mode they digest, hence the tummy rumbles. Mine even rumbles sometimes while I'm doing the massage ( it's the relaxation music that does it!)
Passing wind is a bodily function that does seem to happen at the worst times, doesn't it? But it really is better out than in, and when you clench your muscles to try to stop it, we therapists can feel it anyway. So just allow your body to do what it needs to do and then enjoy your massage.

How many massages should I have whilst I'm pregnant?
This is up to you. Some women book in for just one. Others book in for once a month until 8months and then weekly. Some have one each trimester. There are no rules here.

How long does a pregnancy massage go for?
Usually 1hr 15 mins, but please allow an hour and a half for your session.

I've heard that there are massage points that can help me go into labour?
Yes there are. It's not an exact science, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but there are pressure points that we massage during a Pregnancy induction massage that are alleged to help open the cervix for labour. This technique is only used for women at their due date.
