Ultimate Epoxy is a Two Pack, meaning it requires the mixing of part A and part B with a power stirrer. Once the product is mixed, it has a pot life of 1 hour, because of this we strongly recommend measuring as you go. Using the product after the pot life is reached will cause variations in finish and will cause issues with drying and curing.

This product (subject to availability and excluding the clears) is Haymes tint aligned, meaning it is available in all colours in the Haymes range.

Col has been with the Haymes family for 12 years so far!

Experience: Colin had 30 years experience in the food industry before taking on a new career venture at Haymes. Col has done a huge amount of work on his own home which gives him the knowledge of physical experience within the industry.

A little about Colin: Col has been married for 34 years and has two daughters (29 & 25). He follows Essendon football club and loves relaxing at home with family and his dog.

Col's specialised area's are customer service, building relationships with customers and store presence, which means 8/10 times Colin's smiling face will be your first point of contact when entering our store!

This week, Dave visited two more of our regional Haymes stockists, Woodend Hardware and Dale's Discount in Castlemaine. He spoke to a few different painters and got some leads on some exciting new projects in the upcoming months.

He also ran into some local wildlife and stopped to get some photos along his trip!

Where we will give step by step instructions on how to use a product or complete a D.I.Y project!

Today:
HOW TO repaint a cupboard using water based products. (even if the previous coating was solvent based)

Step 1:
Sand the surface -
For most surfaces, use a 120grit sanding block or sandpaper to roughen up the surface, for stubborn oil based coatings or to get the job done quicker, we recommend the use of an orbital sander.
*In Video: Festool ETS EC 150/5 Orbital Sander, available for purchase or trial in store.*

Step 2:
Cut in edges -
Using the recommended undercoat, use a sash or oval cutter of your choice to cut in straight lines around the edges of the door.
*For this project we recommend Haymes UltraCover - Acrylic Primer Sealer Undercoat, this can be used on top of water or oil based coatings.*

Step 3:
Undercoat door edges -
Using a 4-6mm nap mini roller, lightly undercoat the edges of the door until they are covered.
*We recommend a smaller nap size to get a smooth, even finish, especially when using semi or high gloss paints.*

Step 4:
Undercoat the front of the door -
Using the mini roller, you will then coat the front of the door, starting with the edges and creating a criss cross pattern before completely coating and then laying off to create a uniform finish. Allow to dry for 2 hours minimum between coats.
*Dry time varies depending on temperature and humidity.*

Step 5: Repeat this process twice more with your chosen top coat.
*For this project we recommend a trim paint such as UltraTrim, TrimPlus or Trim Enamel as these products are much harder and more durable for everyday wear and tear.*

Kev is our longest serving team member and has been with the Haymes family for a whopping 23 and a half years!

Experience: Kev has experience in an array of trade service industries, he had 23 years experience as a Business Development Manager at another paint store before moving over to Haymes, he spent some time as store manager then moved his focus over to more specialised areas of the business, as well as servicing airless sprays in his off time.

A little about Kev: He is always willing to help others in a time of need. He is a Carlton supporter and follows all aspects of motor racing. He enjoys gardening and spending time with family.

Kev's specialised area's are colour, furniture and timber stain matching, specifications, protective and industrial coatings, airless spray equipment and application and product advice, Kev is an absolute jack of all trades here at Haymes!
