My element is water.
We all have an element we are more drawn to. For me water; the sound, sight and smell of it, centers me, brings me home, clears my head and helps me fine a deep ease.
This morning I walked with my daughter along the Darebin creek trail. It was just what I needed after 3 days in the city. Birds, nature, water flowing. It was hard to remember that we were in the city.
What is your element? You probably have one that you favour, can you spend some time being with it? For my hubby it is the earth, he loves the mountains and can stare for ages at a mountain landscape, plus he rides his bike in them every week.

Finally! This book has arrived.

My Actual Practice this morning.
Nothing fancy, daggy trackies, blundstones
Featuring Ruckus and Mac (our sonโs dog).
Long slow breaths, moving slowly with the breath, feeling the sun on my face, enjoying the sounds of nature, and although they were camera shy, you can hear the chooks in the background.
You donโt need a mat, or a special room, or a candle. Just you, an intention to be present, and your breath.
I've got a cold, was feeling a bit crappy, but the sun was my tonic today.

Even by just taking time out to consciously to become more aware of our breath we can help to start to alter our emotional states.
Take 5 Deep Breaths whenever you can, focussing on whatever you find easiest:
- the movement of the body with the breath
- the sound of the breath
- the flow of air at the nostrils
- or maybe say to yourself on each breath "this is the breath in, this is the breath out.

The general therapeutic classes on Mondays and Thursdays are the same as I have been offering all this year. The classes aim to nourish your entire body and mind, to help you feel centred, focused and balanced. Various levels of postures are offered to cater for a variety of student abilities.
In the integrated class this term we will be talking about the 5 things that cause us suffering, the Kleshas or afflictions, according to the Yoga Sutras. Diving into yoga philosophy is a great way to begin to deepen your practice. The yoga sutras tell us that the remedy for the afflictions are the 8 limbs of yoga, two of which are asana and pranayama. Join me to discover what your yoga practice is freeing you from. We will be exploring the 5 Kleshas, through asana, pranayama and meditation.
