Last month, students undertaking GEG2ACR Australian Cities and Regions completed their regional fieldtrip, visiting Bendigo and Maryborough to learn about how the goldrush shaped these settlements, the role and support for cultural infrastructure as well as key planning and development issues - thanks to a wide range of representatives from the City of Greater Bendigo, Central Goldfields Shire, Central Goldfields Art Gallery, Central Goldfields Visitor Information Centre, Djaa Djuwima and Dr Charles Fahey for sharing your valuable knowledge and time.
Last week was a big week of fieldtrips for students studying Australian Cities and Regions (GEG2ACR) - involving a fascinating heritage walking tour of Northcote with the wonderful Darebin Libraries staff, a great overview on the City of Melbourne's planning and social housing objectives at the Melbourne Town Hall and learning valuable insights about growth areas planning from Wyndham Shire Council and mixed use development from the Cedar Woods team.
Congratulations to our students Billy, Rory and Sofie who won prizes last night at the Bendigo Campus Awards and Prizes Ceremony - great to see your hard work recognised.

Statutory Planner Mansfield Shire Council is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and community focused individual to take up the role of Statutory Planner. The Statutory Planner is the assessment of planning and subdivision applications and providing professional planning advice to applicants.
Another very informative and engaging field trip by our planning students. As part of PLA5CD - Community Planning and Development this year, we spent two days with the Tarrangower Village community in Maldon.
Today CityStudio students presented their proposals to City of Greater Bendigo staff, mayor and councillors on short term housing solutions for Bendigo for a range of different groups including homeless, youth, elderly and temporary construction workers.
Well done to the students and course coordinator Dr Kiran Shinde. Big thanks to all those who supported the program including Bendigo Tech School and the City of Greater Bendigo, allowing students to gain skills in framing a problem, engaging with professionals and communities and co-creating solutions to pressing issues facing the city.
Everything good comes to an end. Well done to all our HUS3ISB students for completing the study tour and presenting their work at MIT-ADT Pune as well as the Australian Consulate Mumbai.
For the final days of our field trips in Pune, India, we visited a number of institutions and public places that demonstrated the different ways in which rural development is taking place
As part of the cultural tour, HUS3ISB students and MIT peers visited Shri Ballaleshwar Temple and the stepwell, Jejuri and Jadhavgad fort
Over the last two days, our guest expert speakers took us through the rapid urban growth in Pune and the associated social, cultural and environmental challenges along with the various policy responses. We will be back in the field tomorrow!
From our day at Kadamvak Village, another growing area at the fringe of Pune. We met with the locals including the village leadership and learned about an inspiring range of social, cultural, political and infrastructure initiatives that continue to transform the village
