The wet weather has been we are running very low on soft bedding again!
With many dogs still in our care, and this wet rainy weather, we are in need of more thick soft blankets for our dogs and cats!

We are in DESPERATE NEED of:
✅ blankets - wool, polyester, synthetic, faux fur, etc
✅ doonas/quilts
✅ sleeping bags
✅ pet beds
✅ wool underlays / mattress protectors
✅ towels
✅ anything that's thick and fluffy that is big enough for a dog to burrow into!

Unfortunately we have no use for
❎ pillows / cushions
❎ mattresses
❎ clothes
❎ sheets or other thin linnen

Donations can be dropped off during our operating hours 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 12pm Sunday.
If you are unable to drop off donation during this time, please speak to our staff to arrange a time outside of these hours, as donations left at the gate are often damaged in the weather.

Check out Smokey in his cat pram - we love this 🥰
Smokey's owners brought him into BARC today for his FREE microchip, and he loved his outing while staying safe and sound riding shotgun in his Chariot of the Free World.

Thankyou to Smokey's owners for bringing him in for a microchip - it's great to know that if Smokey gets lost, he has the best chance of being reunited with his caring family.

These dogs are all missing their families, we just want to reunite them.

If you are having financial difficult managing the reclaim we encourage you to speak to us so we can find a solution that's best for you AND your pet.

Remember BARC provides FREE reclaim to pets who are registered and reclaimed within a day of impound, we offer FREE registration to pets under the age of 12 months, and FREE microchipping to all pet cats and dogs in Bendigo.

Make sure you look up your pet's microchip this weekend and check that your details are correct - we are here to help you with this process if needed!

We thought you might like an update on the old mare that was found lost in Bendigo a few weeks back.
Unfortunately, despite claims being made on Facebook, no one approached BARC and identified themselves as the owner of the sweet girl we affectionally named "Cherry Trot."
While in our care, Cherry was checked over and provided a hoof trim, a worm treatment, and some decent tucker to help her put on some weight.
Cherry was fortunate enough to capture Bendigo hearts and received donations of feed and rugs, for which she was most appreciate!
We worked with a local Farm Animal Sanctuary to get Cherry into a Permanent Foster home to complete her transition from scruffy old mare to much loved lady - and we are sure you will agree that she will be very content in her new home 🥰🥰

We want to introduce you to Cadbury Caramilk.
Sweet like chocolate, this 1 year old female American Bulldog mix is in need of a foster home.
If you are concerned that you can't foster a dog because you will fall in love and keep them - that's ok with us! We always give our foster carers first option of adopting an animal they care for 🥰
Like with all foster dogs, Caramel will need a place to stay with secure fencing (e.g. colourbond), and if with other pets, needs to be able to be separated when not under supervision.
Caramilk is house trained and sleeps inside, and she loves nothing more than trying to curl up in your lap!
If you live in the City of Greater Bendigo, and would like to foster Caramilk or register as a foster carer for future dogs in need, we want to hear from you!

These two friendly rabbits were found lost in Strathdale earlier this week. They don't have microchips, so we don't know who may have lost them! They are very friendly and affectionate, and we are sure someone is missing them dearly!
BARC just doesn't house cats and dogs, but all kinds of lost pets including rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep, goats, ferrets, birds, and even pet rats!

Kelpie's are a true Australian breed envied by the rest of the world or their loyalty, trainability, and dedication to the task.
While the younger one's require both exercise of the body and mind and generally excel at a variety of dog sports, they do settle down with age and are more content with a gentle walk with opportunities to sniff and explore.
BARC currently has a variety of kelpie and kelpie cross dogs available for adoption, ranging from 4 months to 6 years, so we are bound to have the right kind of Kelpie for your family!
