Celebrating 10 years of MCM! 🎉 🎂 Beginning with just Nick McClure and Josh Pugh, over this time we've launched a sister company Central Victorian Soil Testing, grown to a collective team of 25 amazing staff and expanded our services in Design, Consulting, and Construction.
As the business has grown, the ability to provide the opportunity for engineers and professionals to live and work in the region that we do business in has been a highlight 🏡
We celebrated the occasion firstly with cake followed by a staff celebration weekend.
📸 Staff celebration dinner. Thank you The Atlantic – the food and service were amazing!
Thanks for the write up The Bendigo News This partnership is a special one for us as we are passionate about supporting and encouraging young girls and women to pursue careers in STEM to help shape the growth and innovation of our industry.
Bendigo engineering firm McClure Civil Management has partnered with The Discovery Science and Technology Centre to help fund a Girls in STEM Club.
The free program allows girls aged 11 and 12 to explore science, technology, engineering and math through fun and engaging workshops.
Female engineers from McClure Civil Management will work with the young girls as mentors at the workshops to show them what a pathway in STEM can look like.
“As a female engineer, I know how important it is to have visible role models in the industry," Jemily Florence, Senior Engineer at MCM said.
“This partnership is a special one for us as we are passionate about inspiring and encouraging young girls to pursue careers in STEM and eventually help shape the growth and innovation of our industries.”
Only 29 per cent of the university qualified STEM workforce are women.
Alissa Van Soest, General Manager at The Discovery Science and Technology Centre said the program targets the transition stage between primary and high school where girls can lose confidence in their ability to tackle STEM subjects.
“The program will be delivered by female science communicators who are committed to building girls’ confidence in STEM related subjects and opening their eyes to interesting and varied STEM career pathways," she said.
To further showcase women's role in STEM, The Discovery Science and Technology Centre will be hosting the Hedy live show, a play about 1930s Hollywood film star and invented Hedy Lamarr.
Hedy Lamarr, invented Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum Technology, which is used today in mobile phones, wifi, GPS, and Bluetooth.
The show is on Wednesday 14 August at 6pm with funds raised from the $4 per tickets going towards supporting Girls in STEM programs at the Discovery Science and Technology Centre.

Girls in STEM Club partnership launch a success! 👩🔬🔌🔬
Last Tuesday night we launched our partnership with the Girls in STEM Club at The Discovery Science and Technology Centre which will enable the after-school club to be FREE for the students.
We were blown away by the interest and attendance at the event and had such a great evening chatting to industry leaders, parents and watching the extraordinary Girls in STEM Club in action! Their project for the evening was electronics ⚡️
We also had notable guests in attendance including Lisa Chesters MP, Cr Andrea Metcalf and Marg O'Rourke.
Congratulations to Alissa and her team at The Discovery Science and Technology Centre for running these amazing programs.

Happy International Women in Engineering Day! 🎊👷♀️
We are fortunate to have amazing female Engineers at MCM! From civil engineering, industrial engineering and environmental engineering they have worked on some unique projects over the years and been great role models for girls and women interested in a career in engineering.
Did you know that engineering has the lowest female representation of the STEM professions, with just 13% of the Australian engineering workforce being female (Women in Engineering Report 2022, Engineers Australia).
At MCM 33% of our engineers are women – that’s 5/15! We know it’s not 50% but it’s going to take all of us to champion girls in STEM at a young age (primary and high school years) which is why MCM is sponsoring the Girls in STEM Club at the Discovery Science and Technology Centre - stay tuned for more details on this partnership!

The MCM and CVST teams enjoyed the morning at Red Energy Arena for our All Staff Strategy Workshop. As we look to solidify our 5 year plan, we mapped out some of key foundation areas that will help us to attract the best people and continue to drive our great team culture. Common themes included Skilled People, Sustainability and Valued Professionals.
It was a fantastic opportunity for both teams to come together and chart the course for our future business growth and development. Thank you to all our team members for participating, and Senior Engineer Jemily for facilitating the group.

MCM and Central Victorian Soil Testing were fortunate to attend the Engineers Australia round table at La Trobe University in Bendigo. These sessions aimed to provide key regional members and stakeholders an opportunity to discuss and share insights on regional-specific engineering issues and opportunities.
Some key takeaways from the session included:
o The important role that engineers have in society
o The integration barriers that international engineers have

LOKPOD lands in Bendigo 🤝🏽
We provided engineering design for a new alternative pod system with Lansell Homes, who have been exploring alternative waffle raft options as more information comes to light on the negative environmental impacts the conventional methods are having.
The LOKPOD system by ARC, is made from 100% recycled plastics, modernising Australian residential construction projects.
We are proud to be part of the crew helping bring this to the Bendigo region!

This one was a significant milestone in our projects journey – the closure of the Swan Decline, Bendigo's primary gateway to underground mining, as part of the rehabilitation works at the Kangaroo Flat Mine.
In 2022, we were entrusted with the task of permanently closing the Swan Decline underground entrance, contributing to the preservation of Bendigo's rich gold rush history.
We love working on unique projects like this one in our regional city. Never a dull day! Find out more about the major rehabilitation project underway:
