We wanted to do a very quick post because we have a platform to highlight MND Queensland for the great work they do.

Jacq’s dad recently passed away from motor neurone disease and today everyone walked to raise money for the organisation that provides support to people suffering from this condition in QLD. MND QLD is a donation funded charity that provides services like OT, counselling, equipment needed to improve the quality of life for sufferers and their families.

Josh is sporting a painted nail in blue for MND to raise awareness.

Josh has always had a passion for medicine and helping others. It drove him to become an army medic, to being an on-road paramedic, completing his conversion course to the civilian qualification of Paramedic and into mining.

It was a natural progression to coordinating emergency response teams, training and leading them to provide exemplary care for mine workers.

What no parent should experience.
Well done to these boys, although i think you got really lucky on this one.

Lessons:
❗️Every parent should learn and refresh basic first aid. This was a simple choking and should have been remidied by the mother.
❗️Compressions!! If the patient is blue, theyre not circulating blood. Strat compressions and dont stop until indicated.
❗️We are not robots. Everyone has emotions and in this case it can cause paralysis and panic. Although most will find this woman annoying, she is a panic stricken mother who is feeling powerless as she watches her child slip away from her. Remember that before you cast judgement.
❗Sometimes, you just get lucky... sometimes you don't. All you can do, as a first responder, is your best and try to remain calm.

Final thought - In emergent situations like this, we rarely rise to the occasion, but sink to our highest level of training.
So LEARN how to save a life, and TRAIN that skill often.
