Love and Grief with Pravas
Creating a conversation
around the unique experience of love and grief. My lived experience of grief began at age 5 when my Mother died.
A large life filled with all that life offers including relationship, parenting including all the highs and lows of what I call " The Human Experience"
That Human Experience" has moulded me into the Sage I am today. At age 27 my first child died at 13 months of age after being diagnosed with a life threatening condition at 6 months. This was at a time in the 1970's when there were no support se
Powerful insight into grief
Grief is exhausting
Grief is a monster that lurks in a tune played in a cafe during lunch on a sunny day.
A short overview of a poem.
", Life is eternal and love is immortal; and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight"
Words from Rossiter W Raymond American poet 1840 to 1918.
I am struck by the eloquent accuracy of this simple sentence around life, love and death.
I resonate completely with this perspective and recommend your contemplation.
Grief can bring isolation and loneliness even with great support.
Be aware of significant dates/anniversaries that may trigger heightened grief in the bereaved.
Living with grief is accepting that some days are not ok days and giving yourself permission to not be ok.
The acute awareness of the now vacant space the void left by the departed Loved One is impossible to articulate.
Topic -Use of the word "Lost" around grief!
I recently had various reflections around this word.
For many it is a gentle way to acknowledge the death of a Dear One irrespective of the passage of time.
For some the alternate statement that says someone "died" reflects their preferred reality in their grief process.
For me both statements illustrate the complex individual experience of the grief process.
My learning is to compassionately ascertain which language the grieving prefer and honour their grief.
Allow the grieving to emote and express their grief in their unique way irrespective of time after grief event. One month or 10 years it is still the same grief.!
Allow yourself to be uncomfortable around your grieving friends.
Your support is in your presence not your words.
The song "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang is one of my favoutite uplifting joyous songs to sing and dance with. What is yours?

2 words not to say to the grieving
When feeling overwhelmed by an ocean of grief allow the possibility you are floating in a tranquil ocean of the love shared with your loved One.
Grief is an expression of a love that never dies.
Knowing how frail is your sand castle
On a sandy beach I observed numerous footprints which the incoming tide washed away.
The tide receded leaving a pristine unmarked surface which I see as a metaphor for life.
During our life we leave footprints which are washed away.
What footprints are you leaving that will be spoken about at your life celebration?
Your grief plus the grief of what might have been for your deceased loved one!

The deeper sorrow carves into your being
the more joy you can contain!

You may forget with whom you laughed
BUT
You will never forget with whom you wept.
