Inspiring change one day at a time
This page is about making a difference, highlighting important posts & inspiring attention for actio I failed my last years of school. I felt like a failure.
My mother died when I was 5 and I had a challenging upbringing. I have had many jobs, from jillaroo, to horses, to hospitality, to nursery worker, to cleaning houses to becoming a scientist. I have been homeless and had health issues. Having numerous dices with death from stupidity, being told I could die and not amount to anything spurred me to make something of my life. I became a knowledge seek

Disturbing news!
UN confirms 18.3C record heat in Antarctica The United Nations on Thursday recognised a new record high temperature for the Antarctic continent, confirming a reading of 18.3 degrees Celsius (64.9 degrees Fahrenheit) made last year.
I chose my handle lighter.step.justine for a number of reasons. Do any of these resonate with you?
I am currently offering two free coaching sessions, no obligations, to determine if I am the correct coach fit for you. We don’t buy clothes or shoes without generally trying them on. We also rarely pay for services until they are done so I understand it is difficult to pass that hard-earned money on a service for which we do not know is right for us. This is a ‘try before you buy’ offer.
My schedule is also tight, so I also want to ensure you are the right fit for me. I do not waste my time on people that are not committed and wanting to put in the action to transform their life.
So, are you an action taker?
Are you willing to get out of your comfort zone?
Are you coachable?
Coaching has a great many benefits towards a growth mindset including:
- Removing limiting beliefs and building self-confidence
- Creating a vision for the future and developing goals as stepping stones to this vision
- Removing stress, anxiety and procrastination by improving time management and organisational skills
- Bringing more happiness and joy into life
- Reach towards a life of fulfillment
- Giving support and advise but also challenging you to step up and making you accountable for your actions
Coaching starts with CHANGING your mindset.
What is stopping you? Let’s see how well we fit.
Contact me through DM and let’s get this conversation started or book a free vision call with the link in my BIO.
Interesting read.
Soils from Antarctica seem to contain no life—something that's never been found The soils, from rocky ridges in the center of Antarctica, harbor no microbes at all, something that’s never been found.
Great to see things going in the right direction.
Big, big news! The Keystone XL pipeline project has officially been abandoned by developers! ✨✨ Indigenous activists and environmental groups fought for over a decade against the KXL pipeline. This is their moment, this is people power at its best. This proves that oil and gas projects can be stopped even after they’ve started construction! The world needs to end its affiliation with fossil fuels and we need to do it now! Let’s celebrate the wins and continue the fight! ✊

Created by Post Cafe (https://www.postcafe.ca)
This video was produced with countless analog brushstrokes across three paintings by artist Jon Todd, captured in 15,000 sequential photographs. These photos were layered with performances by Patrick Olson, with key frames painted by Jon Todd, and processed through a form of machine learning called Neural Style Transfer. Director Jonathon Corbiere conceived, orchestrated and shepherded the entire project.
Lyrics:
the idea
how do ideas come?
name the source they’re from
when one is right
an infinite are wrong
the key is somewhere near
i have more hope than fear
when one is right
an infinite are wrong
i thought today would bring
but evening turns
despite the effort
and all that i have learned
see the midnight oil that i burn
come to me my gentle whisperer
i’ll touch you as you drift to sleep
i’ll touch you as you drift to sleep
reframe the phenomena
rework the formula
when one is right
an infinite are wrong
how long is this road
to decipher this code
when one is right
an infinite are wrong

Another good news story........
The school district installed thousands of LED lights, replaced windows, sealed leaks, improved building insulation and installed almost 1,500 solar panels that now generate half of the district’s electricity. All the savings of the energy costs will be funnelled straight back into teachers salaries!

I signed up to this four months ago. It is a small amount each month and I feel it helps reduce my global footprint as well as the physical changes I am making. Accordingly, I have offset 4,47 tonnes of CO2 which is equivalent to 14 m2 of sea ice saved according to a Science article (Notz and Stroeve 2016). This month my funds have helped inforest protection in northern Zimbabwe and an onshore wind energy generation in Taiwan. I also contribute to Australian projects.

I thought I would share with you some of my travel stories. I initially spent four years travelling through the States, UK and Europe. During this time I did work on one of the Greek Islands as a waitress/ dishwasher/all hand, and horse jobs in England and Austria. The Austrian job allowed me to travel 3-4 times a year to different countries. On one trip I went with a friend to the southern part of the States. We drove from Miami to New Orleans but also booked a trip to Jamaica. This experience changed the way I visited countries and led me to have some of the most amazing experiences in my life. Hopefully the video blogs telling the story appear as well. Enjoy.....and let me know if you want more.

Look at this global spread of fellow participants in the Homeward Bound program. I met up with four of these amazing women that reside in Brisbane yesterday (one is missing). It led to a great and very appropriate conversation starter on gender inequality and what are the solutions on International Women's Day.
As a child I was very shy so I have had to work on my public speaking skills. Covid has slowed down many opportunities for networking and public speaking, such as conferences and workshops. So I have got into practising again on my own.one day I will excel but it is a work in progress, a step at a time. What a great opportunity to do this on International Women's Day as I present a tribute to a woman that paved the way for the women of the future.
It is International Women's Day! The Homeward Bound Initative to which I belong has put together 28 hard facts about gender inequality that still occurs today. Today is about supporting and empowering women to take their palce as equals with men so gender does not come into the equation. I have attached two of the gender facts that resonate with me or I have experienced in some form.
Women leaders are often held back by their toughest critic: themselves. This is not surprising given generations of social conditioning. Girls often hold themselves to a higher standard in subjects like maths, where boys are considered to excel. Because of this, girls are less likely to believe that they will succeed and, ultimately, less likely to pursue a STEMM career.
Do you suffer from IMPOSTER SYMDROME?
You are worthy! You are good enough!
Daily slights, insults, and unconscious sexist actions are known as microaggressions. These are subtle forms of discrimination that are socially ingrained and unconscious. An example of this would be not listening to a woman’s idea but then responding to the same idea from a man,
or not thinking to initiate a collaborative project with a woman. Have you experienced this in the workplace? You are not alone. Stand together and encourage change.
Fascinating photos of past and present showing the result of urban explosion with increasing populations both being born & surviving longer and gravitating to cities, and the obvious retraction of the glaciers and ice pack are very sobering, especially the photo of the Artic circle and Greenland. Do we need more proof that overpopulation, over-exploitation of natural resources and climate change is real?

My motto - just keep showing up! Just keep trying! I applied for two big life changing opportunities in the last 12 months. I didn't hear back but I looked for ways to start the process myself and I started making progress. Both opportunities got back to me eventually and offered me to come onboard and now I am charging forward. Never give up! The stars will eventually align if you put the effort into your goals.
And the change starts.....
Currently, the U.S conserves around 26 per cent of its coastal waters and only 12 per cent of its land, so this is a good start! To read more, search for ‘The U.S. commits to tripling its protected lands. Here’s how it could be done.’ by National Geographic.
What an inspiration!
Nzambi Matee, a woman from Kenya, started a company that manufactures bricks from recycled plastic! The company, Gjenge Makers Ltd, gets plastic waste from local packaging plants for free and produce a variety of different paving stones after the plastic polymer is heated and mixed with sand. They’ve also created 112 job opportunities for garbage collectors, women and youth groups! Initiatives that recycle plastic mean we can repurpose plastic that already exists and move away from making virgin plastics.
