NOTHINGS FREE IN PRISON:

STAMPS: Stamps are up there in the cost of this show behind the scenes. As I have said I maintain constant contact with all the men and women I speak with as well as reaching out to new inmates each week. They way I do this is to write them 'letters'. These are basically emails but in order for us to be able to send emails back and forth the prison system makes you purchase stamps and not just one, you must buy a 'book' of stamps, usually around 10 at a time. Oh and one book of stamps for the Florida prison is different to the Washington prison or the Alaskan Prison, each individual prison requires its own stamps (they certainly know how to make money). On top of this I also always send a stamp or two to the inmate I'm contacting as well as from time to time buying them a book of stamps for them to use to contact other friends on the outside. It's one of the small ways I give back to them as a thank you for sharing the stories with me.

PHONE CALLS: another big expense with the show is obviously phone time. Every call that I get from an inmate is charged to my phone account. With currently 16 in mates to speak with we go through this pretty quickly so I am usually spending $75 a fortnight on topping up this account, sometimes more depending on interviews I'm running each week.

MAGAZINE SUBS: As a thank you for the female inmates in Florida at the end of last year I supplied them with a monthly subscription to three different magazines. When I asked if there was anything I could do to bring a little joy in there they said they had been reading the same magazines for almost a year so we sorted that out so they now have three new ones each month.

GENERAL COSTS OF THE SHOW:

Website: I am in the process of trying to get a website built for the show where we can house all the information on the men and women who I speak with as well as extra info and OMR related stuff. Your subscriptions will go towards helping me build that in the coming months.

Audi Storage: I pay a premium subscription to Dropbox in order to store the interviews and audio from the show.

Music Licensing: Each month I pay a fee for the music we use through the show.
