Today we covered types of hacking attacks and explained the idea behind them at a high level.

These hacking methods were covered:
- Spam
- Identity Theft
- Malicious Code
- Phishing
- Malware / Spyware
- DOS/DDOS
- Spoofing
- Ransomware

These protection measures were covered to mitigate risks of the above:
- Access Controls
- Communication Security
- Physical Security
- Information Systems Security
- Business Continuity
- Incident Reporting
- Legal Compliance

We then talked about how to be safe online and use appropriate Security Measure (particularly Facebook) to keep yourself from being a target of hacking practices mentioned above.

Next week we plan to cover a more technical overview of Cybersecurity and introduce some of the concepts that allow companies to keep their information safeguarded.

The Cybersecurity 3-Part Introduction & Awareness series is run completely online via learning platform Reelae (www.reelae.com). There will be video conference style delivery accessed directly via this platform and technology for users to participate with the session(s).

So there are 3 Parts to the Introduction & Awareness series, for 1 hour each session and runs on a Sunday afternoon every week for three weeks. The three parts are:
- Part 1 Cybersecurity: A Basic Introduction (K20 registration fee)
- Part 2 Cybersecurity: Overall Awareness (K20 registration fee)
- Part 3 Cybersecurity: A Technical Introduction (K20 registration fee)
TOTAL: K60.00

Participants can register if interested and once registration is received, they will be provided a Reference Number which will be used as the Description/Reference when making the payment for the course.

Air Niugini (ANG) recently announced the ability to use online payments tool PayPal to allow ANG customers to book flights online, however, there are limitations (i.e you cannot book flights originating from a PNG port, either international or domestic in nature).

I was born in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (PNG) and raised in mining towns across PNG and Australia, completing my secondary education with Port Augusta Secondary School and heading off to attend Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia. I had changed my degree a few times, worked 5 different jobs across the 7 years to complete that Bachelor of Science (extended major in Information Systems) degree at Flinders University.

During that time, I wore many hats; I was a sandwich artist, a waitress, a coffee maker, a Cybersecurity tutor for high school students, a systems administrator for a primary school, a cafe waitress and a university lecturer and tutor, all whilst completing a degree, paying my rent and bills and staying hydrated!

I was lucky enough to have been picked up by a global professional services firm, and landing myself a Graduate position within their Technology Risk & Assurance team.
