We continue to bulk bill patients who hold a current Health Care or Pension Card, or under 16yrs (this is subject to the GP's discretion). As a teaching practice, Koobil Street Medical is c

Yesterday we crossed the Sh*tbox Rally finish line for Sh*tbox Rally Autumn 2024 - START LINE. It’s been a full on adventure. Fortunately our service as Medical support has not been for anything serious. The support team are a very well organised crew thanks to our fearless leader Michael Ryan.
The teams worked through all sorts of challenges from flat tyres to major mechanical failures and an occasional group dynamic issue.
Nobody gave up and I commend them on their endurance.
Ambassador Kennedy joined in and is now an official “ Sh*tboxer “ . How cool is that? 😁😁
We’re going to amble home via a couple of 4x4 roads and catch up on some zzz 💤.
Donations to the cancer council are still open if you feel moved to donate https://autumn2024.sh*tboxrally.com.au/medical-1/donate.
Hi KSM patients!
Just a heads up that we are a bit short of appointments for the next week or so. 😬
We would suggest. if you have an urgent issue, to call or drop in to one of the Urgent Care Clinics. There is one in Browns Plains: https://www.forhealthbrownsplains.com.au/urgent-care-clinic/
Or we use Hello Home Doctor Service and 13SICK https://13sick.com.au/. If you have a Medicare card, they will bulk bill a visit to your home. They begin visits from 5pm.
If in doubt, call the clinic and nurses can advise the best course of action for you. 😊
If it is a non-urgent issue, we can put you on a cancellation list, and we will call if an appointment becomes available.
Thanks for your understanding ❤️🩹

Box Sh*tbox Rally Autumn 2024 - START LINE
Just about to break the fundraising record to date.
The registration crowd are all revved up and ready.
Med 1 are also revved up, dressed up and ready. Our special passenger “ Dick” is watching from the bonnet.
The donations will continue while the rally.
Our page if you feel moved to donate is https://autumn2024.sh*tboxrally.com.au/medical-1/donate.
We are privileged to work for these people and continue to raise money to fight cancer.
The treck to Adelaide has been fun. We’ve driven through flood water over the road near Dalby (only after we watched a Kluger drive the other way), driven hours to avoid flooding and seen some great sights. The Sh*tbox Rally Autumn 2024 - START LINE is the goal. This rally as with all of them, is to raise funds for the cancer council. It’s not too late to donate at https://autumn2024.sh*tboxrally.com.au/medical-1.
Medical 1 on our way. Very keen 😁😁😁

Flu Clinic Day for 2024 😊💉🦠
Sh*tbox Rally Autumn 2024 🚑
In April this year Mitch and I will again be providing medical and mechanical support (Team “Medical 1”) to the Sh*tbox Rally Autumn 2024 - a Cancer Council fundraising event https://www.sh*tboxrally.com.au/the-cause . As of this newsletter, this rally alone has raised just shy of $1.5 million and Box Rallies in total have raised over $43 million in funding that goes directly to fund cancer research projects.
We’ll be helping support approximately 250 “Sh*tboxes” (cars costing less than $1500.00) travelling from Adelaide to Perth via outback roads (Roxby Downs, Uluru and the Great Central Highway ... Australia's Longest "Short-Cut"), a distance of around 4000k … about 80% of which is dirt roads.
This year, just to spice things up, the US Ambassador to Australia will be joining the rally ... it's a bit of a giggle how she came to get involved - Caroline Kennedy joins Sunrise for an exclusive interview | 7NEWS. https://tlccqld.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5d08031139fcd00c9b30e5768&id=c53094c5d6&e=71c5aee319
We consider it a good enough cause to donate 2 weeks of our time each year (3 weeks this time due to the distances involved) to support these guys. If you felt the urge to donate (any amount) we would be very grateful.
Please don’t feel obligated, but if you do wish to contribute either use this link https://tlccqld.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5d08031139fcd00c9b30e5768&id=9d9410a122&e=71c5aee319 Medical 1 (sh*tboxrally.com.au), the QR code in the PDF at the clinic, or select any one of the teams from https://www.sh*tboxrally.com.au/teams/ to support. (We do have favourites … Air Support 21 are mates of ours – Air Support are at every rally getting (and keeping) the tyres sorted on the participants cars, “Two for the Road” (Scott Counsell & Leona Counsell) who introduced us to the cause, and “Gone Viral” who are friends we made on our first rally).
Cheers,
Kym and Mitch
Teams | Sh*tbox Rally The 2024 Sh*tbox Rally teams will be driving their Sh*tboxes across Australia to raise money for cancer research. How much have our teams raised?
We have lots of stock of the Moderna XBB Covid vaccines at the clinic. If you are due for a booster, give us a call and we can book you in to chat with your GP about your eligibility. 💉
Reminder - boosters cannot be given within 6 months of a Covid infection. 🦠
Hello KSM patients!
On Friday 9/2/24, our air-conditioning system will be replaced.
We have made the decision to close the clinic to patients, as there will be a lot of mess and noise in the clinic and possible power outages.
Dr Kellen will be doing telehealth from home, so we will have some limited appointments available on Friday.
If you have an appointment booked for Friday, our staff will be making phone calls today to talk to you.
Thank you for your understanding. We are looking forward to feeling cool again!! 🥶
We will be open as usual on Monday 12/2/24.
If you have an emergency, please phone 000. ☎️
Our air con woes continue! We have fans but it is still very hot in the clinic.
If you wish to change your appointment to telehealth, or to reschedule, please phone the lovely reception staff 😊
No update yet on when the part required will be available to fix it 😬🤞🤞🤞
Hello everyone. Happy new year!🥳
Unfortunately, the air conditioning at the clinic has stopped functioning and we have to wait on a part to be delivered, so it can be repaired.
If you would like to change your booked appointment to telehealth, that may be more comfortable for you.
It is already very hot in the clinic. We have fans on, but it is not ideal. We will likely try to close early today due to the heat.
Please phone the clinic if you would like to change or reschedule your appointment 📞
Sorry for any inconvenience 🥵
On behalf of all of the Koobil Street Medical staff and families, we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy & healthy New Year.
Thank you to our patients who have brought us goodies over the last few weeks. 😋 Much appreciated!
It has been a big year for us, and we thank you all for your patience and understanding as we have navigated the change to a Mixed Billing clinic.
We will be closed on the public holidays but will otherwise be open over Christmas / New Year.
If you have an emergency, please phone 000.
You can also use our after-hours GP services - Hello Home Doctor on 134100 or Home Doctor Service on 137425.
We are now asking our patients to sign up to the MyMedicare program. This can be done through the MyGov or Medicare Express Plus Apps OR you can fill in a form when you are at the clinic. We can also email you a form if you like.
You can change GP clinic or GP at any time, you are not locked in long term 🙂. Signing up will allow the doctors here to continue with our telehealth services.

Below is a list of our most common billing types.
We will be changing to mixed billing on Monday 4th September. Please remember to bring your Medicare and any pension or health care cards with you to your appointments.
Those under 16years, or with a pension or health care card, will continue to be bulk billed (at discretion of the GP).
We do not accept cash. You will need to have a credit/debit or eftpos card to pay, and then a card connected to a cheque or savings account to receive your rebate on the day.
