✨ This simple, yet profound idea challenges the way we perceive our mental activity.

✨ Thoughts are like clouds drifting through the sky of our mind - temporary, changing and often beyond our control. They do not define us. Just as we are not the clouds, we are not the thoughts that pass through our consciousness.

✨ With thoughts, it is similar to how we can truly see a rainbow, but if we were to go right up to one and try to touch it, our hands would pass right on through…and we can recognise that it was an illusion.

✨ Understanding this can be liberating. It allows us to observe our thoughts without judgement, realizing they are just mental events, not intrinsic parts of our identity.

✨ Some things in life are out of our control, but something that is within our control is our breath.

✨ Sometimes all we can do is breathe and believe that everything is going to be okay.

✨ Sometimes all we can do in challenging moments is to focus on what is within our control, such as our breath and our inner dialogue, and use it to restore a sense of calm.

✨ Take some deep breaths with me now and practice self-talk such as: “I will breathe. I will find solutions. I will not let worry control me. I will not let stress break me. I will simply breathe and I will be okay. I can do this. I can do hard things. I always find a way”.

✨ Sometimes the best thing you can do is not overthink, not wonder, not imagine, not obsess, and just, “put down the story” and breathe, and have faith that everything will work out for the best.

✨ I know sometimes it is hard to believe in better days, in love, in kindness, in healing, so l will merely ask you to not believe in anything or anyone else, other than you-l to start with.

✨ Start by believing in you first, and the rest will come.

✨ How often do we find ourselves mentally racing ahead to the next moment, to the next achievement, the next destination? The old, “I’ll be happy one day when…” syndrome?

✨ Let’s all take a moment to do an inner voice health check.

✨ Check in with yourself: What does your inner voice sound like? A supporter? A saboteur? Confident? Critical?

✨ When that inner voice emerges, do you listen to it blindly, or do you take a moment to discern the difference between a supportive voice that you should listen to, or an unsupportive voice that you can perceive as simply a thought that you can immediately release from your mind?

✨ Turn the volume up on your helpful inner dialogue, and press the mute button on thoughts that take away your inner peace, and don’t allow the opinions of others drown out your own inner voice of self-acceptance, self-love, inner wisdom, self compassion and intuition.

✨ There will be times when our inner voice may guide us if we have gone off track or behaved in a way outside of our core values, and this can be helpful in terms of course correcting our behaviours in the directions that we desire to go in, so there are times we may need to listen to that voice - even if it doesn’t feel good, however, it is valuable to know the difference between when to listen in - and when to lean away.

✨ Don’t stay in toxic cycles, just because they are familiar.

✨ Just because something is familiar, it doesn’t mean that it is safe, and just because something feels safe, it doesn’t mean that it is good for you.

✨ Notice the patterns no longer serving you, then choose a different path.

✨ Trust in people’s patterns, not their words, if their words do not align with their actions.

✨ Notice your own patterns, and if you notice yourself repeating the same unhealthy patterns over and over again, ask yourself: “What part of me keeps choosing this?”. Notice if it is a part of you that needs healing, so you can do the work required to heal the wound and build your self-worth.

✨ Tune in to your awareness to notice patterns trying to reemerge, to avoid falling back into your old patterns.

✨ Stay focused! Toxic habits and behaviors always try to sneak back in when you are doing better.

✨ It can be helpful to keep a healthy distance from the stimulus of your undesired patterns in the early days of breaking a pattern to support it being less accessible, visible and tempting to go back to.

✨ When working on changing bad habits, unhealthy thought patterns, negative emotions or toxic behaviours, you are healing a small part of yourself and the world around you.

✨ Everyone around you benefits from your healing, so even when it is hard and you want to quit, remember that this is the work that ultimately changes the world and KEEP GOING. 💖
