The Linville Bikes and Beers is a long weekend (Sat to Mon) gravel cycling event on the BVRT. The event will be fully supported with ride leaders and vehicle support for all rides. We are working with the Linville Hotel to make this a great social long weekend in the country.

This is a fantastic opportunity to try some bike packing on a supported event but we also offer luggage transfers to and from Linville.

Accommodation options are as follows (cost includes accommodation and event costs as per inclusions):

Linville Hotel (Rooms have been booked)

1 x Twin Room - $290pp

1 x Triple Room - $290pp

Rail Trail Refuge (Rooms have been booked)

3 x Twin rooms - $290pp

Camping or own accommodation arrangements

Please note that the Queen rooms will be reserved for couples so that we can get the maximum number of people into the accommodation.

Inclusions

Ride support for 3 organised rides, luggage transfers to and from Linville, breakfast Sunday and Monday and accommodation.

The program is as follows:

Ride option 1 - Depart Fernvale (Tourist Information carpark) at 8am (arrive by 7.30am) - 100km ride to Linville

Ride option 2 - Depart Esk (Brisbane Valley Roasters) at 10.30am- 54km ride to Linville

Overnight Linville

Sunday 4 May 24

Breakfast

Teams Alleycat event Linville to Blackbutt and return

Monday 5 May 24 (Public Holiday)

Return ride to either Fernvale or Esk.

Q. What sort of bike can I ride?

A. Gravel and MTB and E versions of both are allowed.

Q. Can I make other accommodation arrangements?

A. Yes. Just book as the camping/other option in this case

Q. Can I bike pack and stay at the hotel (no camping equipment)?

A. Yes. This is a perfect opportunity to practise carrying gear on a ride

We had such a great time at the inaugural Linville Bikes & Beers Long Weekend this year we just had to do it again 👍

Mark up your calendars, put it on the fridge or wherever else you stick your must do events and keep an eye out for when registration opens which won't be too far away.

We've locked in the entire The Linville Hotel accommodation as well as some more in Linville and of course there will be the bike packing/camping option available.

2025 ANZAC Day Tour Stanthorpe 24 to 27 April 2025

This is one of our marquee tours for 2025. Join us for a 3-night/4 day tour including luxury accommodation, wine tasting, delicious meals, and 3 guided and supported gravel rides. Join us as explore Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt to find out why it's known for its culinary delights and amazing wines as well as its rich history and connection to WWI.

This is an all inclusive tour including accommodation, meals, supported rides, lunch and wine tasting at Ballandean Estate Wines

Join us in Stanthorpe in April for a truly unique experience both on and off the bike. Non-riders are most welcome. This tour is suitable for MTB and gravel bikes and E versions of these.

Our first multi-day tour to Wondai incorporating the Taste of the Trail by the South Burnett MTB Club and South Burnett Rail Trail was a cracker 🙌

We can't thank Julie and Phil at the Wondai Hotel 1903 enough for allowing us to have the hotel to ourselves from Saturday afternoon till our departure on Sunday morning...certainly a first for the Cartel and didn't our riders just love it!

We threw in some Cartel Pub Trivia with great prizes for good measure and wrapped it up with some champagne gravel riding today.

Big thx to our local hosts and ride leaders Tim and Kay who brought the local knowledge and of course lots of laughs 😊

Not long now till we announce details of one of our marquee gravel events for 2025...the ANZAC Day Tour at Stanthorpe 24 to 27 April.

We'll once again be staying at the Granite Belt's Premier Cottage properties Diamondvale Estate, Stanthorpe

In a region famous for its outstanding wines, gourmet food and rich history not to mention the champagne gravel this is definitely one to put on your list for 2025.

If you're looking for the Cartel team this weekend we'll be out on the South Burnett Rail Trail for our inaugural Wondai Gravel and Gourmet weekend yet another new event for the region.

The South Burnett MTB Club and SBRTUA will be bringing the Gourmet with their "Taste The Trail" event on Saturday and we'll be bringing the Gravel on the Sunday return ride to Kingaroy.

Oh yeah we've booked out the beautiful Wondai Hotel 1903 as our digs for the night 👌

When the riding is done we'll all meet back at Brisbane Valley Roasters for lunch and some fun and games...its just like being at the EKKA only better because we'll be riding gravel 🤣

Today is a day we've been looking forward to some months...the launch of our very first gravel cycling shirt!

It's been quite the journey and one we've been fortunate to have shared every step of the way with Sarah and Allan aka BOWY Active

With their experience and knowledge of the cycling apparel world we've brought our vision of a gravel specific shirt to life. We knew what we wanted...something that we just loved riding in but just as important felt right at home in the cafe or pub.

The collaboration between Gravel Cartel and BOWY to create the Cycling Gravel Shirt marked the beginning of an exciting journey towards designing a versatile garment ...

At this year's Gravel and Flannel Festival our second local not-for-profit community organisation was the Esk Men's Shed. We chose them as we felt they do such great work in the community and if we could help them out then not only the members of the Shed would benefit but so to would the broader community.

Our support came in 2 ways. Firstly we invited the Esk Men's Shed to bring their famous bbq to the festival to feed the hungry cyclists and secondly we'd look to raise additional money through donations from the festival goers. We also included raising some money through the artwork by Szczepan Urbanowicz.

When we tallied it all up we were able to provide a donation of $550 to go with money raised through the sale of their delicious burgers.

We're proud to have been able to support such a great local charity.

When we heard a few months ago that the Lions Club of Lowood had their BBQ trailer stolen we knew straight away who we wanted to partner with for our Gravel and Flannel Festival and donate bar profits to.

The trailer is their primary means of fund raising to support the Lowood community so we wanted to help them get a new one.

With the help of Heads of Noosa Brewing Co. and Pechey Distilling Co. along with of course our festival goers we're pleased to announce that we will be donating $1500 to the Lions Club of Lowood.

It was a master-stroke by Heads of Noosa to release their new Ginger Beer just in time for the festival...well played Heads 👏

At the Cartel we're committed to supporting the local communities and the organisations that do such great work like the Lions Club and the Esk Men's Shed our other festival community partner.

We don't bang on here at the Cartel about sustainability we just put in place initiatives that deliver good outcomes.

Deciding to partner with Sean .gear is one of those initiatives. Sean upcycles waste material and off cuts destined for landfill and turns it into just the best musettes. He uses any profits to support community program in his regional town in Victoria.

What we get is a fantastic reusable musette people can take away from our events and continue to use over and over again. They're also a pretty good momento of their time with the Cartel.

As Scott here has said how many times have you turned up at event and received a bag that just gets tossed away 🤷‍♂️

We'll continue to work with .gear for all our multi-day events like the one coming up this weekend the Wondai Gravel and Gourmet and yes there will be Pavè musettes for everyone 😊
