We also offer a range of other health modalities to support those trying to conce
Just casually posting this pic as a reminder for Sian — our treatment tables are electric and adjustable, so she can stand tall while keeping you comfy!
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, fertility is seen as a reflection of overall health, and every journey toward parenthood is unique. At Yin Wellness Brisbane, we’re here to help with a nurturing, whole-body approach - whether you’re preparing for natural conception or undergoing IVF.
Our treatments are designed to enhance fertility naturally by:
🌿 Regulating the Menstrual Cycle: Acupuncture helps balance hormones and regulate cycles, supporting ovulation and reproductive health (1).
🌿 Improving Ovarian Function and Egg Quality: Acupuncture focuses on boosting blood flow to the ovaries, nourishing follicles and improving egg quality (2).
🌿 Optimizing Uterine Lining: By increasing blood flow to the uterus, acupuncture can help to create a more receptive environment for implantation (3)(4).
🌿 Reducing Stress and Anxiety: Acupuncture lowers stress hormones, improving emotional wellbeing and supporting fertility (5).
🌿 Supporting Male Fertility: Acupuncture can enhance s***m count, motility, and quality, improving the chances of conception (6).
We offer individualised care to support a healthy pregnancy, including tailored acupuncture treatments, diet and lifestyle advice, supplement and herbs.
Beyond the treatment, we create a calming, supportive space where your health and family goals come first.
Our degree qualified acupuncturists have additional training in fertility and pregnancy care, ensuring safe and personalised treatments. No matter your path to parenthood, our acupuncture sessions aim to balance your body and mind.
Bookings can be made online (link in bio) or feel free to call us with any questions - 0466 331 737.

When we imagined our reception area, we wanted it to feel warm and inviting. Instead of the usual front desk, we opted for a communal table to reflect our commitment to ‘community’.
We feel a round table helps create a space where you can sit, share a cup of tea, or simply chat as we book your next appointment. The vibe we were going for is more like a cosy lounge room than a clinic. In fact, we’ve had a few people wonder if they’ve accidentally wandered into someone’s home – but rest assured, you’re exactly where you need to be!
🌿 Farewell and Goodluck Amy! 🌿
It’s with mixed emotions that we say goodbye to Amy, our wonderful grief counsellor, who has been with us since our early days in 2022. Amy has been a pillar of support for so many, and while we’ll miss her deeply, we’re excited for her as she embarks on a new journey. From her new space in Cannon Hill, she will be able to facilitate her powerful group sessions, including grief circles, and continue her important work.
Amy - you help so many navigate the complexities of loss and grief and your presence here will be missed. All the best on your new adventure.
We are definitely not influencers - we prefer to think of ourselves as “yin-fluencers”! 📸😅 While we might be a bit shy and our posts can be a little irregular, it’s all because we’re busy balancing our time between supporting our amazing clients, diving into our studies, and juggling our own family lives. 🏡
We might not be in front of the camera every day, but we’re always behind the scenes, working hard to find that perfect harmony in our lives 🥴. We’re grateful for your patience and for being a part of our community, even if we’re a bit quiet online. 🙏
P.S. If you’re curious about what’s happening at the clinic or want to learn more about our services, feel free to drop us a message or check out our website. We promise we’re much more dynamic in person – even if we’re a bit more “yin” than “yang” on social media!
😊✨

What conditions do we support in pregnancy?
🌸 Early Pregnancy Support
Starting a pregnancy can bring excitement and anxiety. We use acupuncture to help reduce stress, promote relaxation, and balance emotions (4). Plus, we have a network of resources and professionals to support you throughout your pregnancy journey.
🌼 Morning Sickness & Fatigue
Struggling with nausea or fatigue? Acupuncture offers a natural, drug-free alternative to help ease these common symptoms (5).
🍃Digestive Comfort
Hormonal changes and a growing belly can lead to digestive issues. We address symptoms like indigestion and bloating with holistic acupuncture treatments (6).
🌟 Relieving Musculoskeletal Pain
As your body changes, aches and pains are common. Acupuncture may help to relieve hip, back, and pelvic pain by improving circulation and reducing inflammation (7).
👶 Breech Babies
If your baby is breech, acupuncture and moxibustion can help encourage optimal positioning for a smoother birth experience (8).
🤰 Labour Preparation
Approaching your due date? Acupuncture can prepare your body for labour by supporting cervical ripening and promoting relaxation (9).
💆🏻♀️ Pregnancy Massage
Christiana from Just Breathe Soul provides pregnancy massage at Yin and we love seeing our pregnant mums coming out of her room looking totally blissed out.
🕸️ Sharing Networks
We have an amazing network of professionals to further support you with the emotional challenges of navigating pregnancy.
This week we are going to talk about supporting your pregnancy journey with acupuncture!
Pregnancy is a unique and special time, and we’re here to provide nurturing support every step of the way. Our qualified acupuncturists offer safe and effective care tailored to your needs throughout your pregnancy. Acupuncture, when practiced by a qualified practitioner, is not only safe during pregnancy (1, 2, 3) but also an amazing tool for addressing many common pregnancy-related concerns.
Tomorrow we will chat about the nine ways we support pregnancy!

📍 Why Did You Put That Needle There? 🤔
Have you ever wondered why we place acupuncture needles far from the area of concern?
It’s all about supporting your whole body through distal acupuncture and utilising the meridian system within your body.
Susan’s been up to her usual—immersing herself in more studies (this time diving deeper into distal acupuncture techniques) and bringing fresh insights to the team. You can read more about this in her latest blog!
https://www.fertilityacupuncturebrisbane.com/why-did-you-put-that-needle-there/
At Yin, we take a whole body approach to your treatment with the Chinese medicine lens of your body’s meridian system. This is also the reason we ask so many questions about bodily functions (and emotions) that may initially seem unrelated.
Whether it’s fertility support, menstrual health, pelvic pain, or labour preparation, our treatments aim to help you achieve your treatment goals and support your overall wellbeing.
At Yin Wellness Brisbane, our commitment to excellence in pregnancy, labour, and postpartum care is at the heart of everything we do. Danielle’s completion of the MAMPS (Maternity Acupuncture Mentoring and Peer Support) program has brought invaluable insights and connections that have shaped not just her practice, but our entire team’s approach.
MAMPS offers over 100 hours of in-depth study and mentoring from international leaders in perinatal acupuncture. The knowledge gained through this program is shared with all our acupuncturists, as we take a collective approach to continuing professional development. By working together, we continually refine and enhance the care we provide to expectant parents.
Learning is always a shared journey, ensuring our whole team stays at the forefront of safe and supportive perinatal care.

Community was just one of the values we knew we needed when coming together to create our own space - Yin Wellness Brisbane.
We’re so proud of the Yin community that evolved in these last few years - our amazing team of acupuncturists, our broader team of practitioners (counselling, psychology, massage, reiki, sound therapy and naturopathy), our clients and of course, all the Yin babies.
As practitioners (and humans), we also want to bring this value of community to our broader lives. An example of this is the work Danielle has continued to do with Inclusive Health Clinic. For the last five years, Danielle spends one day a week at the Inclusive Health - treating in a community acupuncture clinic. This multi modality clinic focuses on providing care to Brisbane’s most vulnerable (in partnership with Micah Projects). is a not for profit based on the belief of “every child and adult has the right to a home, healthcare, safety, education, income, dignity and meaningful connection”.
Community acupuncture allows multiple people to receive treatment in a shared space, making it more affordable and accessible to people. For those most in need (Micah participants), acupuncture treatments are free and also offered and a reduced amount to concession card holders and general public. It’s not just about treating symptoms—community acupuncture fosters connection, reduces stress, and creates a sense of belonging.
Check out Micah’s instagram (and website via their bio) to see more of the amazing work they do for Brisbane’s most in need people.
Reintroducing our reception team… Maria and Bernadette.
Always here to greet you with a smile…. Not so good at answering the phone 🥴 but if you leave us a text or message we’ll call you back when we’re back at the desk. ☺️

Embrace Menopause with Acupuncture
Menopause marks the end of reproductive years, often bringing mixed emotions—relief for some and grief for others. For many, perimenopause brings a range of unwelcome and uncomfortable symptoms.
In Chinese medicine, menopause is called the ‘Second Spring,’ symbolising self-renewal. We’re choosing to reframe the negative thinking around menopause to align more with this concept of a ‘Second Spring’ - an opportunity to redirect energy inward, nurturing oneself (and, of course, reduce the unsettling symptoms!).
Acupuncture offers numerous benefits during perimenopause and menopause, easing symptoms and promoting overall well-being. In her recent blog article, Kathryn discusses this in more detail (including an overview of the evidence). You can read more on our blog page (https://www.fertilityacupuncturebrisbane.com/perimenopause-acupuncture/) but here’s a quick summary too.
🔥 Reduces Hot Flushes & Night Sweats - acupuncture can decrease these symptoms by 50% for up to six months (1)(2)
🧠 Improves Mood & Mental Health - acupuncture can help alleviate mood swings, anxiety, and depression by balancing hormonal health (3)(4)
🌙 Enhances Sleep Quality - many people experience better sleep with regular acupuncture treatments. (5)
🧘♀️ Supports Cognitive Health - acupuncture may help mitigate cognitive decline, keeping your mind sharp. (6)
At Yin Wellness Brisbane, we offer personalised acupuncture sessions to support you through perimenopause and menopause and address your unique symptoms. All of our AHPRA registered acupuncturists share a passion for treating perimenopausal symptoms (and supporting all phases of the menstrual cycle).
Bookings can be made online (https://www.fertilityacupuncturebrisbane.com) or call us on 0466 331 737.

Yin Wellness Brisbane Supporting fertility, IVF, pregnancy, women’s & general health with acupuncture & Chinese medicine.
Two and a half years later and Danielle is still giving Sian tips on how to make a table look extra nice.
If you have been at Yin on a Thursday recently, you may have noticed a new face. Welcome Liana! Defining the type of support work that Liana does is tricky - it’s so broad, but also so niche (not to mention so needed!), so she doesn’t fit into the usual boxes. But here goes!
Liana is a midwife offering support for those that are going through various forms of grief, loss and challenges associated with fertility, pregnancy, birth and parenting. This includes miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal loss or navigating termination medical reasons. She also offers IVF, pregnancy and postpartum support.
Liana has also studied under the greats - and B and provides birth debriefings, we’ll do a bigger post on this later. (We think everyone should have one!).
Find out more about Liana’s story and her offerings 🥰
So happy to have you on the team and supporting our Yin community, Liana.
Two of our favourite things: little cups and big bumps.
We are so proud of our multimodality line up.
• Mondays - psychology with Nicole at Doyan Psychology
• Wednesdays - naturopathy with Lillian .rewilding
• Thursdays - grief counselling with Amy and midwifery support with Liana
• Fridays - massage and reiki with Christiana and psychology with Melissa
• Saturdays - psychology with Melissa and sound therapy with Amanda
Check out the practitioners page of our website for more details and booking information (website link in bio).
We can’t remember what was happening here, but it feels like an appropriate photo to post on a Friday!
And, as funny as we clearly are… we can’t think of a funny tagline 😂 Happy weekend Yin community!
S***m don’t like extreme temperatures - healthy s***m productions requires a scrotal temperature 2-3 degrees lower than the body. This is why te**es are outside the body! If the sc***um and te**es are heated by even 1°C, there is a decrease in s***matogenesis (the production of s***m) (1).
A very small study (only ten men) found that using a sauna for 15 mins, twice a week for three months led to lower s***m counts and s***m motility. On the plus side, the negative effects were reversed when they stopped using the sauna for three months (2). There are no studies yet on how much sauna use is too much sauna use, given how much sauna use is trending, we would love to see a study.
This is why we recommend loose fitting underwear and to avoid saunas and hot baths in the 3 months leading up to and whilst trying to conceive.

A few things that we love about Kathryn 🥰
- She enjoys walking to Yin on Mondays and Wednesdays.
- Is a Qi Gong teacher.
- Is really great at listening and understanding what space you are in
- Her favourite food is Dosa - YUM!
Lillian joins the Yin team next week as a naturopath!
With a focus on women’s health, preconception, blood sugar control and digestive disorders, Lillian uses a nutrition and education-forward approach that respects the individuality of each person. She has a caring nature and works collaboratively alongside the healthcare team to ensure her patients are heard and health goals are met.
Lillian supports her patients health through nutrition optimisation, targeted herbal medicine, and prioritising robust microbiome health.
Lillian is practicing on Wednesdays at Yin Wellness Brisbane and has created a special introductory offer for the Yin Community, reach out to her through socials or her website to find out more .rewilding

You can have acupuncture at any stage of your pregnancy…. it is both safe and helpful to deal with a myriad of pregnancy symptoms that can present - such as nausea, indigestion, constipation, insomnia, anxiety and musculoskeletal pain (1).
In the last few weeks of pregnancy, we specifically recommend a series of labour preparation treatments - ideally weekly from 36 weeks.
This practice is supported by quality research (Cochrane Review level) concluding acupuncture can improve cervical readiness for labour and improve Bishop scores. At Yin, our focus at this stage is not to “induce” the baby or start contractions, but to use acupuncture points to facilitate muscle and tendon relaxation, soften the cervix and calm the mind (so that the body is ready for the next stage - ie the actual labour). (2)
And it’s not just acupuncture, we love to support this labour preparation stage with all of our resources - herbs, meditations, teas, essential oils, affirmations, supplements, our acupressure guide and plenty of pillows!

All of our acupuncturists at Yin are not only registered with AHPRA, but also degree qualified and regularly undertake further studies in both Chinese and Western medicine.
We often laugh about how this frame is still on the floor. We had grand intentions of putting it up when we moved into the building (coming up to three years!), but we are calling it - this is it’s official spot.
The research is catching up to what we see in clinic!
This very recent study (May 24) concluded that acupuncture can significantly improve endometrial receptivity (including thickness) in people preparing for frozen embryo transfers.
This study reviewed a total of 164 women who had experienced recurrent implantation failure, a condition where embryos repeatedly fail to implant in the uterine lining in prior transfers.
Those receiving acupuncture (in addition to their IVF medication - GnRH agonists), were shown to have improved endometrial receptivity when compared with those just receiving the IVF medication. More specifically, results included:
📍 improvement in endometrial thickness
📍 more evenly spread endometrium (lining)
📍 increased uterine blood flow and therefore
📍 higher embryo implantation and
📍 clinical pregnancy rates.
Our Yin acupuncture team reviewed the treatment approach taken in this study to find we take a very similar approach in clinic. These new studies are always a good opportunity for us to review our practice and ensure we are up to date from both the western medicine understanding and Chinese medicine approach.
At Yin Wellness Brisbane, we typically recommend weekly acupuncture, along with diet, herb and supplements and lifestyle advice when supporting IVF.
Welcome to the Yin team, Melissa!
Melissa is a Clinical Psychologist, Director of MindHealth Psychology, and self-confessed aficionado of cheese toasties. Her approach is grounded in genuineness and authenticity, weaving humour and empathy into your interactions to truly understand and connect with you.

We are a team of registered and degree qualified acupuncturists - Megan, Danielle, Sian, Kathryn and Susan (L to R).
We have consciously set up our team, not only with lovely and talented practitioners, but also to work collaboratively as a practice.
This means that if your schedule doesn’t allow for you to see the same practitioner each week this isn’t an issue. We have availability 6 days (and evenings) a week and all of our practitioners will have access to your file and be fully informed about your case, Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment plan.
We also apply this team approach to learning. We all love to study and keep up to date with the latest research and evidence based approaches relating to Chinese medicine, fertility, pregnancy, gynaecological health, mental health, pain management….actually almost anything health! We have regular team meetings to share this knowledge, update each other on latest learnings and workshop case studies and catch up over snacks.
