🐹Guinea pigs mark their scent by rubbing their chin or cheeks across things, to make their home smell familiar and comforting.

To celebrate, enjoy some fun facts and pics courtesy of our own Pet City turtle lover:

🐢 Turtles and their shells are one! The shell is an adaptation of their ribs expanding and surrounding them, meaning they can never leave them. This means that they are the only group of animals on the planet who’s shoulder girdles are INSIDE their rib cage!

🐢 Turtles can’t swallow unless their head is underwater. This is because they can’t produce their own saliva, and rely on the water around them to wash it down!

🐢 Turtles are an ancient body plan, as old as sharks and crocodiles!

🐢 When giving your turtles live fish (which are a really good source of calcium & enrichment) they will often keep some as friends and ‘pets’ for their own entertainment.

🐢 Turtles often like to anchor themselves when they sleep so they don't get knocked downstream or pushed by waterflow. Sometimes it can look very silly!
