Looking back at this project from last year for a venue and events space in Dublin, Ireland.

The building that houses the space was once part of a cattle market, so the design is a nod to the history of the building, and created the perfect opportunity to bring some playful personality and storytelling to the brand.

This! πŸ‘‡ Thinking about your brand as if it were a person is such a smart approach that brings loads of personality, individuality, and authenticity to your business. And you know what? It makes it so much easier for people to connect with it.

It sounds a little woo-woo, but brands really do take on a personality and soul. The best brands nurture this and own it, making sure it comes across everything they do, including what they write.

It shouldn't surprise you that I'm a big fan of creating and adhering to Tone of Voice or Brand Voice guides.

If you've never written one before, it can be hard to know where to start to identify exactly how you sound, or want to sound if you're a new brand. Here's a little exercise I like to do:

Describe your brand as a person. If you're B2B, think of the brand as someone you might work with or a client, or if you're B2C think of a friend or family member. Then write down answers to these questions to create a picture of them:
- How do they talk?
- Where do they like to work? Cafe, private office, co-working, busy open-plan office
- How social are they? Are they the social butterfly of the scene with a broad network or do they prefer to stick to a small group of people?
- What are their hobbies? Are they adventurous and like skydiving or prefer quieter pursuits like yoga or crochet?
- How would a friend describe them? Artistic, sporty, quiet, quirky, energetic, outgoing, kind, creative, a do-er, a thinker, a helper, a leader, a nurturer, a class clown?
- What means the most to them? What are their values?
- Are they quietly confident, or do they sing about their achievements loudly and proudly?
- Are they conservative or open-minded?
- How do they dress? In an eclectic style with lots of colours, in vintage-inspired outfits or are they a fan of a classic monotone look?
- Do they prefer to holiday in a tent or a luxury hotel?
- What kind of pet would they have? A d***y labrador or a bouncy fox terrier?

Once you've got a picture, predicting how they act, speak and write is easier. You can then start using adjectives to describe the tone of voice, e.g., academic, corporate, conversational, energetic, calming, boastful, quietly confident, reassuring, or enthusiastic.

It's also a great benchmark when you're writing or designing something - you can look at this picture and ask: "Would my brand really do/say/think this?"

I've thrown out some extremes here - your brand might be more in the middle. And you wouldn't necessarily put this profile in your style guide or TOV guide (although you can). However, it definitely makes developing your brand voice much easier.

I’ve been pretty quiet on here lately, but that's because things have been flat out IRL with some pretty amazing client projects, that I can't wait to start sharing soon. πŸ˜…

One of our recently completed projects is this super fun rebrand and website for local, all-female accounting team, Bean Counting+ which is now a new favourite project. ✨

Looking for something less "stuffy" than their competitors (because these gals are NOT your typical, dare we say it, "boring" accountants πŸ˜€), we illustrated this full set of spot illustrations for the website that really help to bring some personality, colour and storytelling to the brand.

Thrilled to have be part of this rebrand β€” from naming, positioning, brand identity and illustration, right through to copywriting, messaging and website design.

NEW WORK

We love all things lunar and moon-related over here at Crescent Co. so we were excited about creating a new brand identity for this amazing concept space.

A space that combines healing crystal sessions, art exhibitions and music and poetry performance with a wine bar. Sounds divine.

The new brand is ethereal, dark and moody, with an echo of a vintage retro vibe.

There's much more to a logo than meets the eye β€” deeper meaning, intent and purpose are infused into all the brand identities we design.

Starting the new year on a high note, with this brand design and website for Scenic Rim silversmith and leadlight artist, Emma Dusting from Silverlight Studios. ✨

Emma's work is inspired by the natural world, with lots of organic shapes and elements featuring in her work, which in turn inspired the organic flow of the letters in her new logo.

The duality in Emma's work (her silver jewellery and her leadlight art) was also the prompt for the juxtaposition of the soft, flowing font with a more traditional and classic typographic style.
