One of my favourite melodies. I hope you enjoy.
Larghetto -Sonata in A minor HWV 362 by G.F. Handel.Written in 1720,this movement works at different tempos musically . It depends on how the performer views it musically. I see it as an Aria style with a dance flow. The melody is so powerful it needs little ornamentation.A case of less is more. I hope you enjoy.

The Ash*taka and San theme is from the Studio Ghibli Anime film Princess Mononoke. Written by Joe Hisaishi, it is a tranquil and very beautiful melody depicting love and hope. It plays at the end of the film and is a fabulous opportunity for the player to impart to the listener that sense of peace, love and hope. For a flute player playing a melody this long at a soft dynamic level with tonal depth and expression as well as projection is challenging. This is a perfect melody to develop that skill as well as depict with tone and expression a deep message of two peoples love and their passion for a hopeful future. I hope you enjoy.

The Nocturne by Lili Boulanger is a stunning piece. The performer and listener embark on an emotional and colour journey. Flute and piano parts are delicately intertwined building to a deep emotional peak. Very appreciative of wonderful artist and pianist Daniel Le in this piece who made all of the above possible. The Nocturne was composed at 18 years old, a year before she was the first woman to win the coveted Prix de Rome composition prize . Lili passed away at 24 years of age. I can only imagine what wonderful works the world may have seen had she lived longer. This piece should be performed more often.I hope you enjoy.

Nessun Dorma is a fabulous Aria not only for singers but for flute players . It develops tonal resonance and power behind a phrase. The final note is not for the faint hearted player.I hope you enjoy

The Gadfly Romance was written for the 1955 Soviet film The Gadfly. It is an epic story of faith, tragedy, revolution, romance, and heroism and based on a novel of the same name by Ethel Voynich. For flute players it is a wonderful exercise in key colour . I have chosen to play it in its original key C major and adapted slightly for the flute. I hope you enjoy.

This Ave Maria by Astor Piazzolla is not often performed.It was written for oboe and piano in 1984 with the title Tanti anni prima for the film Enrico IV, in which it was the theme of Matilde, played by Claudia Cardinale who worked there with Marcello Mastroianni. For Amelia .I hope you enjoy.

Salut D'Amour showcases the flute at its best. It is a wonderfully romantic , expressive piece. Originally written for violin and piano, the flute adds another dimension to it. Often referred to as "Loves Greeting" it was presented as an engagement present to his fiancé. I hope you enjoy.

The little Adventurer from Children’s Dream by contempory Spanish composer Luis Barroso is a beautiful expression of the joy, innocence and precious time of childhood.The Flautist series uses it to help players blend expressive vocalisations into thier playing.The little piece is full of little rhythmic patterns that can easily be accented incorrectly. J.S Bach Sonata in E Major BWV 1035 -Allegro is a change of pace from the Nessun Dorma but equally as important for the player in The Flautist series to learn to work in skeletons ( basic form) and gradually bring a piece to life like a painter would with each brushstrioke on an art work.This movement has a wonderful rhthmic drive. I hope you enjoy.

Divertissement Grec by Philippe Gaubert is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever played. It sparkles like washes of gold dust, a truly awesome experience recording this work.
