The Government will freeze social security deeming rates at their current levels for a further 12 months until 30 June 2025, to support Age Pensioners and other income support recipients who rely on income from deemed financial investments.

The Reserve Bank (RBA) has left the cash rate unchanged at 4.35 per cent, acknowledging that further rate hikes are possible.

Following a significant overhaul resulting in the reduction of its meetings from 11 to eight per year, the Reserve Bank (RBA) has made its initial interest rate decision today – leaving rates on hold.

This decision aligns with market forecasts, particularly in light of the softer-than-anticipated Consumer Price Index (CPI) data. The CPI data unveiled an annual 4.1 percent increase in the December quarter, influencing the RBA's decision.

The Treasurer has announced the following revenue measures:

Tightening superannuation tax concessions for those with balances exceeding $3 million.
A 15% global and domestic minimum tax for large multinational companies.
And extending tax compliance programs.

The RBA has increased the official cash rate by 0.25% to 3.85%. This marks the eleventh hike to the cash rate since the tightening commenced 12 months ago in May 2022.
