Ever wondered what the powder coating process looks like?
This is footage from a partner factory that the GSS team visited in China today. The powder coating process is a fascinating and efficient way to apply a protective and decorative finish to metal and other materials. It involves using an electrostatic spray gun to apply a dry powder, which is then melted and fused into a smooth and durable coating by heating the material in an oven.
The result is a beautiful and long-lasting finish that is resistant to damage from scratches, chips, and fading. Additionally, powder coating is an environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional wet paint coatings, as it's free from solvents and VOCs. Overall, the powder coating process is an impressive and eco-friendly solution for enhancing and protecting a wide range of objects and surfaces.

Just landed in the GSS office!
We have just received material samples of recycled PP with a twist. To create the effect seen in our images, wood fibre, coffee grounds, and/or straw is added into the recycled plastic material. This can be used in injection moulding to manufacture products that have an earthy yet sophisticated look.

With our team on the ground, I have been inspecting factories in several industries, including metal fabrication, metal stamping/forming, CNC machining, and plastic injection moulding. We wanted to sincerely thank everyone that helped with the GSS flood clean up last week. Each pair of hands contributed greatly to getting us back on track, and your support certainly kept up our morale.
We had so many friends and family help us out through the week, as well as members of the Mud Army on Saturday. There were also so many people bringing around food, fresh cold water, positivity, and smiles! The generosity and thoughtfulness of our community is not lost on us.

Safe to say we spent a few days working from home last week!
Last week, the GSS office was affected by the flooding in Brisbane, but we have been carrying on business as usual. We are considering this another opportunity to practice our adaptability and are looking forward to getting back into the office ASAP.
We have since made a lot of progress cleaning up the office, stay tuned for more updates.
Our thoughts go out to everyone who was impacted.

Prior to this year, the average number of containerships at anchor off the coast of Los Angeles waiting to dock was 0 to 1. This average has now risen to 30 containerships.
