I know I owe you a recipe already but thought I would let you know it’s pizza night tonight.

What are you eating in Quarantine? We are eating maghmour with rice. Maghmour is vegan Lebanese Moussaka. It is very rich so we like it with plain white rice, also it goes further and has fed our family for a few days. We topped it with fresh coriander and chilli. You can also serve with yogurt if you like but I like it as is. Recipe to follow.

As we face a grim flu season you are going to need some chicken soup. This is a twist on the classic Lebanese Chicken vermicelli soup, Shorbet shah w shaariyeh. It took a dark turn when the pasta shelves were empty of vermicelli, but we saw past it and made our soup anyway. Recipe http://chickpealebanese.com.au/chicken-soup/

I promised I would post recipes. This is not quite that but a family favourite. Zataar crusted toasted cheese, tomato, olive and mint sandwich. Delicious.

Last weekend at Chickpea, we pull up stumps tomorrow night.

So there have been a few tears over hommus at the thought of moving from this lovely suburb where we have received such tremendous support. We want to thank you again and all those who have written such lovely reviews.

It is with some sadness and a little excited anticipation that we announce Chickpea Coorparoo will be closing on Sunday 26th January. We will take a few months off before starting a new venture in a venue yet to be decided and in a slightly different form. We want to thank our customers for making us feel so welcome here in Coorparoo, we have loved getting to know you and bringing you the food of Lebanon. We hope to stay local and will let everyone know through social media where we turn up. Come in this week for your last Chickpea experience for a while. A busy last week would help us greatly.

The Chickpea kitchen arm wrestling championships will continue this week after service with Nebal remaining the champion (although not undefeated).

Arak is an anise flavoured Levantine distilled spirit. Not for the faint hearted.

Kibbeh & hommus makes a happy Sunday.

We are open from lunch through to late.

We have made lots of great food in 2019 and look forward to perfecting our place in the Coorparoo food scene in 2020. But we have some changes right from the start. We are opening from lunch through to dinner Tuesday to Sunday starting tomorrow. Not breakfast for the time being. Keep posted for more news. In the meantime come and enjoy.

Friday night is underway at Chickpea and our fried cauliflower is proving a big hit with kids tonight.

This is my Christmas Day makloubeh. Give me a few days to upload the recipe as we are busy getting back to work. Open for dinner tonight. 😎

Christmas Eve dinner for us is a messy makloubeh made from the leftover of the Christmas Day one I made for tomorrow (Photo to come). This year I made it with poached chicken, I usually make it with slow roasted lamb shoulder. Can post the recipe if anyone is interested. It is simple, delicious and looks great on the Christmas table.

Wishing all our customers a Happy and safe Christmas. We want to thank you for your support this year, we have loved serving you here in Coorparoo. We are closed Mon-Thurs this week and reopen Friday for dinner. Our booking system mistakenly had us closed NYE, but we are open for bookings NYE Now.
