For example, to monitor response to training load and alter where needed, avoid load spikes and avoid high volumes of ergometer training. As physios and other allied health professionals this can be a difficult area to make changes in, but an important one if you are working with a crew/school/team or seeing recurrent issues related to this. I would encourage open discussions with the whole management team, definitely including the coach, and provide information and practical solutions for implementation. For example, having some watt bike sessions or running sessions to help maintain cardiovascular fitness rather than long intense sessions on the erg. Ideally these little changes will not only assist with minimising injuries, it will also improve crew performance by keeping as many people in the boat as possible for on water sessions!
