These recommendations are for weeks 1-6 post c-section.

Follow your intuition, if something doesn’t feel right, don’t do it. Any signs of infection, consult your doctor.

41 weeks 3 days in, 41 weeks 3 days out ❣️

My baby girl, you’re crawling, exploring, climbing, and goo’ing… You’re growing up so quickly.

My last baby. Why do the “lasts” feel so bittersweet? The last time experiencing pregnancy, birth, the newborn days, the final time breastfeeding. In one breath, I want these moments to stretch on forever; in the next, I want time to move more swiftly.

Oh the contrasts of Motherhood- joy and exhaustion, beauty and struggle. And each little milestone she reaches is both exciting and a heartache of ‘the last’.

Eden, you truly are my little slice of paradise, it was always you ✨ ILY ❣️

✨SCAR TRANSFORMATION✨

A beautiful abdominal and scar transformation for this mumma of 2.

When I first treated this mumma, she had a very midline breath, her scar felt thick and she was experiencing back and hip pain.

Over 4 treatments I opened up her rib cage and lateral muscles so she could achieve a 360 degree breath, released her c-section scar, reconnected her deep core and we worked on her back and hip pain.

Between treatments she was diligent using her Body Lane Scar Release Kit and her hard work has paid off.

I bang on about helping women reconnecting with their bodies postpartum and seeing these results fuel the fire 🔥

Last week I was asked:

How do you know if your scar needs releasing?

Have a feel of your scar and ask yourself these questions:

~ Does it feel thick, lumpy, bumpy?
~ Is it painful to touch?
~ Does it feel numb, sensitive, cold?
~ Can you feel any pulling sensations in your scar when you stretch your abdomen or when you exercise?
~ Do you experience back pain, hip pain, pelvic pain that won’t go away?
~ Do you hate the way it looks?
~ Do you have a shelf or bulge that sits over your scar?
~ If you take a deep breath, can you expand under the wound?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, your scar needs releasing 🙌🏼

If your scar needs releasing, I have officially opened up bookings for my 3 week online C-Section Freedom course starting Tuesday May 14th at 12pm! The sessions will be a progressive self release and deep core activation series and you’ll be able to join my exclusive Facebook group where you can ask questions, share progress and receive hot tips on scar release.

Bookings are open on my website and in my booking system (link in bio) and the first 5 people to join will receive my brand new personalised scar release kit 🤩🤩

I can’t wait for you join us!! DM for more questions!

The Birth of a Baby Girl: via Emergency C-Section.

- Sharp p***c during contractions
- Meconium in waters
- Emergency C-Section
- 3 nuchal cords around body and neck

“Being a midwife myself, caesarian section just wasn’t going to happen to me. People asked what my birth plan was...I said go with the flow. But hopefully accidentally birth at home. Go in for a check up and go home again 6 hours later.”

✨How to make your C-Section Birth beautiful✨

Whether you had or are having a planned or unplanned c-section it can be the most beautiful experience. In my birth plan I had a very detailed plan of how I wanted my c-section birth to go if a vaginal delivery didn’t go as planned.

I acknowledge that not all C-section experiences are positive, however I want to focus on empowering and supporting those who may be facing a C-section birth. My intention is to promote education and awareness around c-section births and in the hope to make your experience a little more positive, especially in an unplanned situation.

A c-section birth can be so beautiful, after all you are meeting your baby for the very first time. Here are some tips to make it special:
~ Create a birthing playlist with your favourite music
~ Use hypnobirthing and calm birthing techniques
~ Have clear communication with your birth team and express when you are feeling unsafe, scared.
~ Ask for a maternal assisted c-section- where you are able to bring the baby out of the belly.
~ Use affirmations “I am calm, I am safe, I am doing what’s best for me and my baby”
~ Delayed Cord Clamping: discuss with your provider if you can delay cord clamping to maximise transfer of nutrients.
~ Have colostrum ready: you can pre express colostrum from 37 weeks to give to your baby after birth.
~ Have the camera ready to capture your beautiful baby being born
~ Focus on deep breathing: surgery can be overwhelming, your breath will help you stay calm, connected and present in your birth.
~ Enjoy bonding with your baby: hug, kiss, make eye contact, skin to skin.
~ Reflect and process: write your birth story out, tell people about your birth.

Is there anything you can add to this? What made your c-section birth beautiful, comment below!

~Live on the blog~

Today’s birth story is by Michelle from .local.osteo . Michelle is attending my C-Section Release & Rehabilitation course in Melbourne in June and after experiencing first hand how important c-section recovery is, I can’t wait to see how her practice transforms with this information 🙌🏼

- Two Positive Births
- Planned C-Section, turned Emergency C-Section
- Return to Sprinting

“I was feeling quite nervous about being awake while having major abdominal surgery and a spinal block. To help prepare and bring myself calm I completed a hypnobirthing course which included a module on c-section delivery.“

Thank you Michelle for sharing your story 🫶🏼

We love how much you guys are enjoying these birth stories. My inbox blows up on the days that I post these with thank you’s from mums who have birthed by c-section 🙏🏻 if you want to share your story, send me a DM.

💡The disconnected core 💡

I see this belly weekly in clinic and I call it the disconnected core. And mumma, it’s not your fault 🤍

In practitioner terms, this is muscular inhibition and facilitation.

I explain the abdomen much like a light switchboard 💡Some lights just won’t turn on, the wires feel cut, it feels dead, like its not part of the body, and no matter how much ab work you do (or don’t do) the lights don’t turn back on. The lights that are on, get stronger and stronger and the lights that are off, get weaker and weaker.

The good news is, it doesn’t take long to reconnect to your core, but it does take dedication to a rehab program.

Practitioners, do you see women in clinic with this and don’t know how to help them?

In my C-Section Release and Rehabilitation course I teach you how to see abdominal inhibition and how to get all the lights on the switchboard to work again.

We have up coming courses for practitioners in:
📍Sydney
📍Melbourne
📍Gold Coast

And mumma, if you have this tummy and you want to feel reconnected in your core, we can help you with in person and online! DM us to find out more.

The Birth of Joey via Emergency C-Section now live on our blog ✨

“In the end I wouldn’t change a thing. I had all round positive experience, supported, well advocated for and empowered! I cannot wait to do it again”

Thank you all for such a wonderful response after our first blog went live last week 🤍

We have had more mums share their story, and we would love to hear yours. Link to blog in bio ✨

A beautiful c-section shelf transformation over 2 treatments✨

The changes you see:
- reduction of scar tissue build up.
- reduction in the c-section shelf
- increase definition throughout the abdominal muscles
- skin texture changes, the skin has become smooth.

The changes this mumma feels:
- improved activation of her deep core muscles (she can actually use them now which has given her more abdominal definition).
- deepening of the breath, which made her feel physically fitter because she could get more oxygen in.
- Increase in body positivity from the visible changes 🤍

Want to book in your 90 minute abdominal scar consultation & treatment. Head to the link in our bio and follow the ‘book now’ links.

Want to learn these techniques? We have practitioner training courses now live for 2024.
Want your favourite bodyworker to know these skills, share this post with them.

✨ Empowering the body to birth with ease ✨

Myotherapy throughout pregnancy and in preparation for physiological birth is amazing. I engaged with a lot of therapists throughout my pregnancy to help manage my aches and pains but also to set me up for a physiological birth.

Here’s a list of things I, as a Myo can help you with whilst pregnant:

- Postural and baby alignment for birth
- Pain relief from the many aches and pains, IYKYK
- Increase relaxation, cause pregnancy is hard on the body
- Pelvic floor and pelvic preparation
- Provide exercises and mobility moves
- Be an emotional support and part of your birthing team 💪🏼

If your goal is to have a physiological birth, consider bodywork as part an integral part of your journey.

Bookings are now live on my website 🤩 If you want Myotherapy for birth preparation, begin your treatments at 36 weeks. DM if you have any questions.

The shelf, the bulge, the overhang..

It’s that subtle curve, that gentle bulge, a silent testament to the miracle of life and the sacrifices we make as mothers. Whatever you want to call it, you may be here because you want it gone.

It’s gained its status from the many mums who have experienced it after having babies via c-section.

If you need a definition of what the shelf is, it’s a lower abdominal bulge over your scar.

The shelf is contributed to a combination of many factors including;
- Poor posture
- Scar tissue build up and fascia restrictions
- Lumpy, bumpy, uneven scarring
- Diastasis recti (abdominal separation),
- Excess belly fat or skin that after being stretched for 9 months and multiple c-sections.

There is something you can do about it and they do not have to be forever. To start, see a practitioner who specialises in c-section scar release 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️

Otherwise to reduce the shelf you need to:
- do c-section and abdominal massage daily
- focus on deep core retraining and exercise a couple of times a week.
- retrain your breath, the breath mobilises the scar tissue from the inside out.
- 80:20 nutrition with supplements to promote healing, support stress (and lack of sleep), and to reduce adipose tissue.

Something very exciting landing soon for those who can’t see me face to face and I now have my bookings open on Thursday’s at .collective - link in bio to book in 🤩🤩

The birth of Eden Willow: Part 4

Intuitively I felt the need to open my pelvis, I changed my hip position to be internally rotated- knees in and toes out. The next contraction came and my waters burst, followed by back-to-back contractions with no break and within minutes, the fetal eject reflex took over. I could feel her head starting to descend, and it all unfolded instinctively and automatically. Her head emerged with a hand right next to her face, followed quickly by the rest of her body.

Baby Eden arrived at 9:05pm, roughly 2 hours and 20 minutes after the first contraction.

The speed of her arrival left me in awe and disbelief, I needed to take a few deep breaths before I lifted her onto me. She had an unusually short umbilical cord so I couldn’t get her onto my chest, instead she sat low on my hip. My husband cut the cord and we were finally able to lift her all the way to my chest for some comfortable skin to skin. I was experiencing some blood loss, so I had a syntocin injection to encourage the placenta to be delivered.

I came out with a couple of grazes and minor first degree tear that didn’t need any stitches. Considering she had her hand at her face, I’m happy with that outcome.

We relished the beautiful moments of skin to skin time and she latched perfectly on both breasts for the golden hour of breastfeeding.

This was far from the birth I imagined mainly because there was no fluffy moments; no acupressure, intimacy, essential oils or birth ball bouncing. My birth affirmations, birth plan and visualisations all stayed in my bag. Instead, it was an intense, intuitive and hands-off experience that will forever be etched in my memory. It wasn’t what I was expecting, but it was just so amazing to feel my body do it on its own. I completely trust that the optimal positioning work I did for weeks in the lead up to this birth really helped.

She arrived in divine timing, just before a scheduled induction that I was feeling very defeated by.

If you have joined me for my daily birth story drop, thank you and I hope you have enjoyed reading ✨

Well we’re here at 40 weeks 🙌🏼

And oooft 😮‍💨 what a week!

We are healing and back to prepping for baby girl to arrive 💕

My focus until she graces us;
❣️surrender
🧘‍♀️ meditation and breath work
💆🏼‍♀️ pelvic floor and jaw relaxation
