Teens aboard tall ship rescue capsized kayaker from crocodile-prone Queensland waters A group of young sailors spending their school holidays on an eight-day tall ship voyage have helped pluck two stranded kayakers from dangerous waters near Hinchinbrook Island.

Adventure Under Sail
South Passage is Queensland’s only owned and operated Tall Ship run by the not-for-profit organisation the Sail Training Association of Queensland (STAQ). South Passage was designed specifically for 14-17 year olds to experience “Adventure Under Sail”. She has taken over 50,000 students sailing over the last 25 years. Her rig is relatively simple and everything can be managed from the deck. Students are not allowed to climb into the rigging as would be required on a square-rigged sailing ship. South Passage is classified as a Class C tall ship, one of the few sailing in Australia all year round.
