Raid 100 entries opened a week ago and the event is already half full. This will be the third edition of the race. Did you know that there are 41 athletes who competed in both of the previous events from a field of 130 each year? Were you one of them? Of these competitors, 8 have already secured an entry to keep the streak alive: great work Mark Wilson (pictured), Grant Pepper, Helen and Ed Steenbergen, Tamyka Bell, Mark Murray, Andrew Scott and Steve Amor. We’re excited to have you back again. Come and join them on the greatest rogaining challenge in the world. https://raidadventures.com/the-raid-100/

Places are capped and offered on a first come, first serve basis, so get in quick to secure your spot. Teams should also note that there is a major fishing competition with 10,000 fisherman wrapping up on the first weekend of the race and would therefore do well to look at securing accommodation early.

We're excited to announce that the third edition of the Raid 100 will head to the Discovery Coast region of Queensland. The seaside town of Tannum Sands will play host to the world's only expedition-length, rogaine-format adventure race from 4-9 May 2025.

The race returns with its familiar format of 100 check points spread over 100 hours of trekking, mountain biking, packrafting and navigating. The Raid 100 will double as the Adventure 1 Oceania World Cup in 2025.

Entries open in just over a week on Monday 8 July. Places are capped, so be sure to get in early - this not a race to be missed. Full details on the race announcement can be found here:

Something a little different for a Monday morning. Back in 2015 I collected a bunch of sleep and activity data from teams racing in Expedition Alaska and XPD in collaboration with researchers at the University of Queensland. The subsequent paper was released for publication today - full article can be found over at the following link: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/ejsc.12143

Untamed Border Events 19/05/2024

A quick plug for another fantastic event on the South East Queensland calendar. The Untamed Border Run has now opened entries for it's second year. This is a fantastic, community minded trail running race put on by some very experienced rogainers and adventure racers who want to share their beautiful part of the world with you, giving access to otherwise inaccessible private properties. With a range of distances up to 50km, this race should be on everyone's bucket list.

As we load up the gear for tomorrow's Wildfire Raid, it's never too early to get excited about the 15th edition of the Rogue Raid. With 86 check points to set, we've stolen a march on the job and have begun tucking flags and punches away in the hidden creek lines and spurs of the Moreton Bay region.

The course is looking fantastic with a ton of variey in terrain. Although we are at a coastal location, we've still found a hill or two to feature for those up to the challenge of nabbing some big points. Here are a couple of snap shots from around the course.

With the availability of additional kayaks, we still have some places open in the 24 hour course option over at https://raidadventures.com/the-rogue-raid/ and plenty of spots in the 6 hour race.

Just 43 more sleeps until race day - how's the training going?

Check out Visit Moreton Bay for all your training adventures.

The first of 87 (!) check points for the Rogue Raid went out into the field last week. CP-17 pictured here is a particularly challenging offering. With almost 30 more controls than a standard Rogue 24 hour course, the route choices are wide open and teams will need to bring their A-game when it comes to strategy to pick their optimal route best suited to their strengths. It's going to be a bumper race.

We still have a couple of places availabe in the 24 hour event, and plenty of spots on the 6 hour course: https://raidadventures.com/the-rogue-raid/

The race runs from 4-5 May, 2024 out of Donnybrook in Moreton Bay. Be sure to check out Visit Moreton Bay for local accommodation options and other adventures to explore in the area.

Entries are now open for the Rogue Raid 24hr and 6hr course options! The race is heading to the Moreton Bay region on 4-5 May, 2024 and with early bird entries only open for a month, this is a ticket you don't want to miss. Full details including entry link can be found here: https://raidadventures.com/the-rogue-raid/ - see you at the Rogue.

Photos from Rogue Adventure's post 07/01/2024

This post brings us to the final of our series looking back over 15 years of Rogue Raid highlights. The 2023 race returned to Lake Wivenhoe (albeit with a different race HQ location), incorporating areas used in 2010, 2016 and 2017, along with all new locations never seen at an adventure race before. The race kicked off with an interesting stage requiring teams to collect a number of optional check points on foot before swimming down to the first transition area and jumping on kayaks for a long downriver paddle on the Brisbane River. From Savages Crossing, teams mounted bikes for a tough ride into the back of D’Aguilar National Park through to the Mermaid Mountain trailhead. A massive overnight storm made trekking and navigation through the night even more difficult. A long bike leg along the relatively flat Brisbane Valley Rail Trail took teams to the shores of Lake Wivenhoe for a kayak and trek loop, before finishing on bikes back at HQ below the dam wall.

On the competitive side of things, it was team Alpine Avengers (Dave Schloss, Elizabeth Dornom, Glenn Wilkinson and Oskar Booth) who managed the upset come from behind win, the result being all the more impressive with the Rogue Raid hosting the most competitive field of any adventure race in Australia in 2023. If you want to be part of the Rogue Raid future, entries open for this year’s race tomorrow, Monday 8 January. There are both 24 hour and 6 hour course options, so something for everyone. Check out all the race details and get your entries in here: https://raidadventures.com/the-rogue-raid/
