We know these are super fancy paint terms, but hear us out and you’ll be praising us and your fluff free walls in no time.

1. Defluff - The simple act of washing your new roller under cold water before use will prevent lint from sticking to your beautifully painted walls. Allow it to dry before painting, trust us, a soggy paint mess is zero fun.

2. Don’t Overload - Overloading anything isn’t great but overloading your roller with too much paint will cause all sorts of mess and won’t give you a pro finish. Always use a roller tray and use the angle ramp to remove excess paint.

3. Zig Zag - This is arguably the most important step. Roll a W zig zag on the wall, overlapping your strokes to keep a wet edge. Keep your zig zags in a 1m square area and you’ll be rolling like a pro in no time.

4. Lay off - We don’t mean lay off the chocolate (no way!). This very technical term refers to the art of gently rolling over your topcoat while it’s still wet. Start at the top and work from left to right and you’ll end up with a perfectly even topcoat.

PSA: Your timber furniture needs some lovin’ too.

Just as your deck needs a good clean after winter, your outdoor timber furniture needs a clean too. Not only to remove the cobwebs but to remove the mould and dirt built up over the winter.

Now, once you’ve done this you’ll probably realise it’s looking a little dull and lifeless and that’s not ok (at least not with us).

Give it the protection it needs to weather the harsh UV rays of the summer sunshine by layering on some good, juicy timber oil. This nourishment will see you through another summer.

Oh hey Spring, we’ve missed you! Winter weather doesn’t discriminate and your home could probably use some TLC to get ready for the warmer months ahead. This week we are going to inspire some Spring projects whilst giving you some helpful tips (at least we think they’re helpful) along the way.

First up, decks. Even if your deck doesn’t need recoating this season, it could probably use a good old fashioned clean. Damp, cool weather is a breeding ground for mould and other contaminants. Cabot’s Deck Clean is a great product to really get in and clean away winter nasties, bonus points that it’s also a great prep product if you do need to recoat your deck.
