Videos by Gaia Kin in Brisbane. ✨ I help sensitive souls regulate their nervous system and balance their emotions

✨️ Here is my all-time favourite habit for grounding the mind and soothing a sensitive nervous system:

Abhyanga ❤️

Have you heard of this ancient Ayurvedic practice?

There are so many benefits, it’s crazy.

From improving nervous system health and sleep to supporting healthy vision, kindling digestive fire, promoting physical strength, softer & stronger skin, graceful aging, toning tissues, and nourishing the whole body. 🙏

Heres how to practice:

✨️ Use herb infused cold-pressed black sesame oil (check the link in my bio), olive oil, or coconut oil.

✨️ Place it in a glass jar & set it in a bowl or container of hot water

✨️ Apply the oil over your entire body, from head to toe

✨️ Use circular motions over rounded areas such as your head or joints and straight strokes on straight areas such as your arms and legs.

✨️ After we are done, relax for five to 15 minutes, letting the oil and the massage do their magic.

✨️ The longer the oil is on, the deeper it penetrates. During this time, we can read something relaxing and uplifting, and rest; or make breakfast and get ready for the day.

✨️ Then, take a warm shower to remove excess oil.

Have you tried this practice before?

I would love to hear how you go xx

As your tolerance to stress increases, you'll likely find that you waste less energy trying to control your thoughts and the people and events around you. You start to conserve valuable mental and emotional resources that gives you the capacity to focus inward and start to align more with your authentic self and your sense of purpose and meaning in the world. Life only gets richer and more magical ✨️ #kinesiology #mentalheatlh #anxiety #stress #stressless #healthyliving #naturalliving #optimistic #sensitivesoul #inspiration #inspirationforwomen #anxietyrelief #anxietyfree #mindbodyconnection #nervoussystem #healingbody #selfcare #slowpacedlife

Our behaviors are often deeply influenced by our past experiences, particularly those from childhood. Traumatic events during this period can shape our responses and coping mechanisms in adulthood. When individuals have experienced childhood trauma, they may develop patterns of behavior aimed at seeking safety and validation from others. This can manifest as people-pleasing tendencies, as they may prioritize the comfort and approval of others to mitigate their own feelings of insecurity or fear. They will continuously suppress their authentic selves to maintain harmony in relationships. However, it's important to recognize that while acknowledging and accommodating others' discomfort may temporarily alleviate their distress, it's not always healthy or sustainable. There is a big cost to people pleasing: ❌️ leads to neglecting one's own needs and desires result in feelings of resentment, frustration, and a loss of self-identity ❌️ perpetuates unhealthy relationship dynamics, fostering dependency and enables others to take advantage of individuals ❌️ erodes self-esteem and creates a cycle of seeking external validation to feel worthy or valued. ❌️ hinders personal growth and hinder the development of authentic, meaningful connections with others. Even though we may recognise these patterns consciously, it may still be difficult to break free from these patterns as they are encoded in our subconscious. Applied kinesiology is a great way to release these deeply held stress patterns to be able to set healthy boundaries and prioritize self-care and self-advocacy. #kinesiology #holistichealth #childhoodtrauma #suppressedemotions #brisbanekinesiology #selhealing #emotions #stressless #peoplepleaserproblems

Inner healing is planetary healing ✨

One thing I have so dearly LOVED seeing through Eastern Europe is food growing in just about every nook and cranny in often high density and crowded areas - up the walls, in hanging baskets and along the pathways of narrow roads. In these areas there is an abundance or grapevines, mulberry, olive, pomegranate and cherry trees. Plus the small veggies patches growing local seasonal greens, tomatoes and potatoes. No wonder people live so long in Mediterranean areas! Even though in some of these places their veggie patches are swallowed up by snow for parts of the year, there is still a strong culture for home grown food. It makes me reflect on Australia. We have huge amounts of unused space, sun all year round and perfect weather ALL year round from winter to summer to grow a huge diversity of edibles. And yet, so few Australians really make use of this massive blessing. To me, growing my own food is not just having access to fresh organic unadulterated fruit and veggies (which is a massive plus!). Gardening to me is a way of life. Gardening is my meditation, my exercise, my stress management, my immune booster through my exposure to healthy bacterial and fungal communities, my medicine, my vitamin D and my connection to nature. And when carried out in a community setting (which is the BEST way to grow food), is it a source of friendships, connection and empowerment. Plus it is a way to save money, which is needed more then ever given the crazy prices of good quality produce at the moment!

So grateful for this beautiful man in my life <3 @topraksu

A simple recipe to nourish the tissues, ground the mind and heal the digestion ✨ 1 cup dried yellow split peas or lentils 1/2 cup basmati rice 3 tablespoons ghee or coconut oil 1 tablespoons grated fresh ginger 2 teaspoons ground cumin 1 teaspoon ground coriander 1 teaspoon fennel seeds 1 teaspoon ground fenugreek 1 teaspoon ground turmeric 1 teaspoon sea salt 5 cups vegetable stock or water 1 small crown broccoli finely chopped into an almost rice-like texture (about 2 cups total) 1 medium zucchini coarsely grated (about 1 cup) 1 cup packed baby spinach roughly chopped 1/4 cup coriander leaves Instructions Rinse the yellow split peas or lentils and rice in a fine mesh colander under cold water until the water runs clear. In a large lidded saucepan over medium-high heat, heat the coconut oil or ghee. Add the ginger and cook, stirring, for 30 seconds. Add the cumin, coriander, fennel seeds, fenugreek, and turmeric. Cook for another 30 seconds, until fragrant. Add the split peas or lentils and rice and stir to coat in the spices. Add the salt and pour in the water or vegetable stock. Bring to a boil, cover, and reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer for 35-45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the peas/lentils are tender but not mushy and most of the liquid has been absorbed. (You may need to add more water if the mixture becomes to dry or begins to stick to the bottom of the pan). Stir in the broccoli. Cover and cook for another 4-5 minutes. Stir in the zucchini and spinach, then remove from the heat and leave to stand for 5 minutes. Serve warm scattered with the cilantro and plain yogurt, if desired. About 10 years ago I was living in the city of Bolivia and at that time I had befriended a street dog in the neighbourhood. This beautiful soul would meet me outside my apartment block each morning to walk me to the bus station for work. One evening returning from work, I hoped off the bus and started walking home, as I did each day. But this particular evening I noticed at the corner of my eye a man had started to follow me - each corner I would take, he too would take, edging his way closer and closer to me. I knew I was in danger. Once I reached my street he started to run towards me. I still needed to get to the end of the dead-end street and unlock the gate to be able to get away from this man. There was just no way I could make it in time. Just as I thought things couldn't get any worse, the street dog appeared out of nowhere and started barking aggressively at the man. The man quickly turned and ran away. How blessed and appreciative I was for my friend! This experience reminded me to always look for opportunities to give love to all beings, be it human or animals and especially those in need. We just never know what profound and life-changing impacts their connections can have on our lives. Do you too have a precious story of an unexpected connection that has had a significant impact on your life?

I have been a little quiet on here recently. We have had some big changes in our lives the last couple of months and it has taken a little bit of time to reground and refocus. My partner and I both had the dream to work and travel. And actually an unavoidable and unexpected circumstance came up that gave us no choice but to go. So we sold everything (bar a few boxes each that we stored at friends) and flew overseas. We are not sure when we are returning just yet, but in the meantime we are making the most of this opportunity. It's been an incredible journey so far and we are excited to see where it takes us. We have met some amazing people, seen some breathtaking sights, and learned so much about ourselves and the world around us. Of course, there have been some challenges along the way. The constant moving and disruptions to my daily routines has been ungrounding to my sensitive nervous system. But we have learnt to adapt to new environments and new ways of doing things to find a new flow. These challenges have taught us so much about resilience, flexibility, and the power of positivity. I have also given myself a challenge to be more active here on social media and share more openly and authentically of my experiences and passions. It really does make my heart happy to share and inspire you to prioritise your well-being, your relationships, and your connection to the earth. Thank you for your support and encouragement, and I look forward to connecting with you all more xx
