Little One

A new dress for work. I’ve not posted on here in a while and I get asked a lot if I’m still sewing, and the answer is yes! This is a (with pockets of course!) made int he most exquisite fabric. I remember when I purchased it many years ago now, I knew it had to be kept for just the right project, and I think it went alright 😉

I made this dress back in 2016! It’s Miss Fox Dress.

I could rave on all day about handmade, from the quality, to the ability to express creativity and individuality, right down to being able to fit a difficult body shape… the proof for me is being able to have a dress for six years and it still looks brand new 🙌

I’m aiming to post regularly for the challenge, I’m trying to make use of my exisiting wardrobe and resist the temptation of new makes but that’s not going to last long!

- an oldie but a goodie. Today we headed out to Cooroy for the Denim bonanza. The girls shopped up big then we headed to the local playground.

There are so many benefits to handmade, many choose it for it’s unique appearance, others like myself choose it for a means to express creativity whilst also having clothes that fit difficult body shapes.

This dress was a product of my testing for . I made it in 2016! It’s still as beautiful today as it was back then. Another reason I love handmade - it always costs a bit more, but as the old saying goes - you only get what you pay for 🙌

I purchased this industrial overlocker on gumtree a few years ago. I have longed for one for so long, I have an industrial straight stitch which I got new, but never could justify the price of a overlocker whilst I had a perfect domestic one.

This second handy has been a drama, its noisy and regularly breaks a needle but today I won 🙌 finally stuck to giving it a makeover and it’s running like a dream.

I’ve got three swim suits for three girls to test over this weekend - bring on summer 🌺

I’m trying to find some time to make myself some new clothes. is my thing but I’m needing a few extra pieces to not only add to my collection, but to make me feel ready for summer.

I got a selfie ring light thing for Christmas, in an attempt to do better full length pictures - unfortunately it’s beyond my capacity for technology and well the kids are at school!

I did a video to upload here, but it cuts my head off 🤣 I will put it into my stories for anyone wanting to see how lovely this dress moves when on. For those sewists amongst us, it’s miss Zoey. Really clean easy sew, just lots of gathering!

Here’s the obligatory post for the year! The only costume I made was the dress, was made by the little lady herself and costume was sourced last minute from !

I love how each year there’s different energy around book week. To see all the kids at school having the best time really is so special, these years are going so quick.

We had fun today designing and trialling a new mask- if you have to be anything, be fabulous!

I took half a day off today; purchased this gorgeous travel cup from and then caught up with one of my besties for a hair refrrrresh 💁🏼‍♀️ I feel better already 🙌

I’m trying hard to not add new fabrics but when you are a creative person sometimes the heart rules the head 🤩

Teenage Masks: guys I’ve overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone’s support of my small business. You have been asking me for a few days now for teenage size masks in school colours, they are live now on the website and I will be adding more pictures here as I get them today.

Today we and grabbed some delicious pies from our butcher and brought them home to cook. We also ran into our beautiful friend Anita - taking social distancing to the next level 🤪

How outrageously fantastic

We took our new from sewing patterns out for a spin today. As always it’s an honour to test for Jill, she’s a breath of fresh air in the fashion design world. As for the dress, it’s passed the tween test, the twirl test, the dancing test and the handstand test 👏 when I saw the gorgeous new fabric at I knew instantly these two are a match made in heaven.

I’ve had a lot of people messaging me to enquire about the dress I was making last night in my stories, viola! I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out 🙌 my daughter had a reading at church today, you should have seen her face when I told her I made this especially to see watch her 🧚🏼‍♀️

Ok here it goes; one pair of swimmers for sale and one swim skirt.

I have just enough of this left to comfortably make at least one more pair of adult sun smart swimmers. The price will be $145, fully lined with industrial grade power mesh (the good stuff you find in quality body shape wear), full sleeve to the elbow, lovely little gathers on the shoulder for a feminine feel, partially crossed front bodice and regular cut bottoms. I promise you won’t ever want to wear a different style again once you have worn these 🙌

Second for sale item: swim skirt!! I am stupidly conscious of my legs, have been since I was a teenager. This skirt is a saviour both in and out of the water 🙌 made out of designer fabric this wrap skirt is soft to the touch yet doesn’t hold water so it’s lightweight. It’s the perfect accessory for running around on a beach chasing kids in and out of the water without feeling self conscious 🙈it simply wraps around with two lovely big ties and is the perfect handmade addition to your handmade designer swimmers. The price for the skirt is $75.

I only have enough of the skirt fabric for one more, however if there is a need I can purchase more of the swimmer fabric.

“Slow fashion” I’ve sewn clothes for as long as I can remember. Never has the skill been so important than after babies. Being able to design and create quality garments that fit and flatter has been so valuable to my sense of self. This dress cost me around $60 in fabric, it gets thrown in the wash with my other items and comes out perfect. It’s been finished to perfection with French seams and self made bias binding, it’s now two years old and still going strong.

I’ve been commissioned to sew some women’s clothing this year purely from women who see me in my creations out and about , I’m proud to be contributing my part in the slow fashion movement ✌🏼

Today marks 12 months since we lost you Damo, you were such a big part of our lives - it still doesn’t feel real 🤷🏼‍♀️ we remembered you in your favourite place, it feels so peaceful here 🪶

Last of the accountability requests!! This absolutely beautiful sheer fabric I purchased today from in Brisbane. Not my usual practical and sensible lean too’s, this beauty will take me out to a fancy dinner, possibly for Valentine’s Day if I’m held accountable - ask me
