Vaccination is now easy!

We're adding vaccination cover to all extras cover so you can get your flu vaccine each year as well as your travel and other vaccinations.

Check our website for start dates and cover levels. Cover does not include any vaccinations provided by the Government (eg COVID-19 or children's rubella vaccinations) as they are already free!

There are many studies showing that walking is good for our physical and mental health, so we are pleased to support the Walking for Health and Helen fundraiser in March.

Starting on 9 March, Brian Stace (long term HCi member and former Director) is Walking 4 Health & Helen: Over 50 Tassie walks in under 50 days. The walks are to promote healthy walking and raise Cancer Council Tasmania funds in honour of his wife, Helen (who died from breast cancer last year), and others affected by cancer.

Our friends at the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood have asked for our help in spreading the message. Lifeblood needs more donations for the Easter and school holiday period – especially for those with O- blood.
Blood donations are critical to Australia’s healthcare system. 1 in 3 people will need blood, yet only 1 in 30 donate – let’s work together to make sure there is enough blood for all who need it. You can start by taking an eligibility quiz then booking an appointment.

Lifetime Health Cover is important to understand once you are over 31, as shown by the graph and information provided by the Members Health Alliance. HCi is a proud member of this alliance, based on our not-for-profit philosophy.

Lifetime Health Cover Loading (LHC) could lead to a big headache if you delay taking out health insurance cover.

LHC is a financial loading applied on top of your hospital premium at a rate of 2%. LHC loading applies for every year you are aged over 30 when you take out hospital cover, up to a maximum of 70%.

To avoid the Lifetime Health Cover loading increase you need to take out hospital cover before the 1st of July following your 31st birthday.

The LHC loading is only removed once you have held hospital cover and paid the loading for 10 continuous years.

Rapid antigen tests (or RATs) are an important health screening tool that many of our members may have to purchase in the coming weeks and months.

While RATs are in short supply in many parts of Australia at the moment, we’re always thinking ahead about how we can better support and help HCi members. So we are providing a benefit (up to $25) to eligible* members for purchasing a RAT.
