Welcoming another unbelievably talented member to our faculty in term 3: Andrea Arena 📣

Andrea’s journey in the performing arts began with a prestigious scholarship to study classical ballet at the Victorian College of the Arts. Following her graduation, she embarked on a remarkable career in musical theatre, accumulating an impressive array of credits.

Andrea’s notable performances include touring with “Wicked the Musical” across Australia and Asia. She continued to showcase her talent in “Grease the Musical,” also touring throughout Australia and Asia. Her versatility and dedication were further highlighted during her time with “The Lion King the Musical,” where she toured Australia. Andrea’s musical theatre career reached a new pinnacle with a three-year stint in “Aladdin the Musical,” which saw her performing across Australia, Asia, and New Zealand.

Beyond the stage, Andrea has worked with renowned artists such as Olly Murs, performing at events like the Logies and on the X Factor. She has also collaborated with the Black Eyed Peas, Dami Im, and Anthony Callea, among others. With a career spanning 15 years, Andrea has been an integral part of the commercial dance scene and has appeared in numerous TV commercials, demonstrating her versatility and wide-ranging talent in the performing arts industry.

Welcoming a sensational new addition to our faculty: Benjamin Curé 📣

Having worked professionally as a dancer and choreographer for over 12 years, Benjamin Curé has made a name for himself as a leading creative in the industry. He has performed with companies like Opera Australia, Vertical Shadows, danced for artists like Karen From Finance and was part of the top 100 of Australia’s So You Think You Can Dance. As the founding director of Lion Heart Dance Company, he has produced multiple seasons of work, as well as choreographing for international conventions like the World Congress on Public Health and International Inner Wheel Conference and most recently the musical Songs for a New World.

Ben is a passionate educator and has taught both locally and internationally for over a decade, including: tertiary courses at dance studios, the National Institute of Circus Arts, International Summer Schools and elite programs. He brings not only a wealth of knowledge and experience, but a desire to see every student thrive - tailoring every experience to the unique needs of the individual.

Yesterday we welcomed the one and only Brett Fisher to our faculty ✨

Brett will be working on an exciting musical theatre piece for our mid year showcase. We can’t wait to see your creativity come to life

Brett’s Bio ⬇️⬇️
Brett is a graduate of the Musical Theatre Course at Patrick Studios Australia. His onstage theatre credits include: ‘Fiddler on The Roof’ (The Fiddler), ‘Curtains’ (Ensemble), ‘Avenue Q’ (Bad Idea Bear/Ensemble), ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ (Featured Dancer), ‘Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs’ (Dance Captain/Ensemble), ‘Rapunzel’ (Dancer/Choreographer), ‘Voyager of the Seas’, ‘Rhapsody of the Seas’ (Dancer) for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and ‘Norwegian Pearl’ (Dancer/Swing), for Norwegian Cruise Lines.
His creative theatre credits include: ‘Rapunzel’ (Choreographer), ‘Godspell’ (Choreographer), ‘Beauty and the Beast’ (Choreographer), and ’Ugly Duckling - It’s a Hairy Tale’ (Choreographer) which had sold out seasons at the Melbourne and Adelaide Fringe Festivals.
Brett has been teaching for the past 12 years while working professionally all over the world. He has spent the last 2 years working and teaching in London, and has taught classes at many schools including: Pineapple Studios (Musical Theatre), Base Dance Studios (Jazz, Theatre Jazz & Jazz Technique), Danceworks (Tap & Musical Theatre), Monarch Studios (Jazz & Ballet), Italia Conti Associates (Musical Theatre) and Oxford Brookes University (2022 UK National Champions in Jazz) and many others while still training with studios online back in Australia.
Brett has adjudicated several dance competitions, most recently being the Showcase National Dance Championships on the Gold Coast in January. He has also judged at Jump Dance Challenge and Prestige Dance Awards, judging both solos and group routines. His extremely keen eye for detail, technical prowess and musicality as well as a huge amount of professional experience, makes him one of the most sought after teachers and adjudicators in the country.

We are absolutely THRILLED to welcome our newest member to the faculty, Cherine Peck who will be leading Spectrum Dance students through vocal coaching.

Cherine is an award-winning actress with over thirty years of experience in the entertainment industry.

Her music theatre debut was at just 16yrs old in Harry M Miller’s New Zealand production of Jesus Christ Superstar. The show toured to Australia where Cherine was cast in the Australian Premiere of Miss Saigon for Cameron Macintosh.

She quickly became a sought-after performer, landing roles in David Atkins’ production of Little Shop of Horrors (Chiffon), The Boy From Oz (Linelle), Buddy the Musical (Apollo Singer), Avenue Q (Gary Coleman), Violet (Lula Buffington) and Music of the Night – the songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber.

She created the role of Shenzi in Disney’s The Lion King, landing her a nomination for a Helpmann Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical.

Cherine won a Green Room Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for her performance as Diane in David Atkins Hair and was nominated again for her role as Melpomene in Xanadu.

Cherine also won a Green Room Award for Best Leading Artist as The Witch in Into the Woods.

Most recently, Cherine played the role of Mrs Corry in the critically acclaimed national tour of Disney’s Mary Poppins.

VET Dance Industry Day at Spectrum Dance Studios

Spectrum Dance Studios opens its doors to welcome VET Dance students, an insight to industry based training for pre-professional performing artists.

Date: 22nd April, 9:00am - 3:30pm
