✳ Cert 3 in Arboriculture or 3+ years of industry experience.

✳ Hi-Risk EWP license

✳ Previous experience in a similar role or ready to take the next step in their career.

BUNYA BUNYA PINE {Araucaria bidwillii}

These unique pine trees have these massive pine cones - weighing up to 10kgs (for female cones)
Imagine taking the dog for a walk and this hits you on the head after a 50m fall 🤕

Ok … maybe the council should have planned this better when planting , BUT each year , they get guys like us in to literally de-pine these for the safety of the people using this area …. Although we still wouldn’t recommend setting up a picnic under these trees !

🍃 Strelitzia nicolai 🍃
It was time for this giant to go.
These guys have very woody stems and can reach up to 8meters high! As you can see …. The stump they leave behind is also BIG.
Owners planting these need to stay on top of them , as they do ‘clump’ and can spread as far as 3.5m from the original planting spot in a thriving position.

We recommend having these guys in a pot {either indoors or out} , to keep them maintained easily 🍃

Green Waste Verge Collection Areas Nov/Dec 2023

A green waste verge collection for all suburbs within the Shire has been organised as a short-term measure while the Waste Transfer Station remains closed. Collection will commence on Monday 20th November with rural areas being given priority to minimise fire risk.

Green waste shall be collected if the householder has complied with the nominated green waste collection dates.

There is no limit on the amount of green waste we will collect however it must be cut to manageable sizes. Trees, branches, tree trunks, shrubs or shrub prunings up to 300mm diameter to a maximum length of 1.5metres will be collected. Any loose materials such as lawn cuttings, leaves, and general green waste should be placed in cardboard boxes.

Green waste will not be collected if it falls into the following:

🚫Any junk, general waste, hard waste, recycling material, asbestos, chemicals, gas bottles or any other hazardous material,

🚫Large tree stumps, or greater than 300mm diameter or exceeding 1.5 metres in length.

🚫Any waste that is contaminated.

These gardens were full of plants that had thorns - spikes - bees and the rest !! With so many kids coming daily for their appointment it was important to have it made safe and sound.

This interesting guy was found (along with a whole bunch of his mates) in the branches of a Palm Tree we trimmed recently.

Our kids were so interested in the Hairy little creatures crawling all over our Driveway once the trucks were parked up!
So here are some details on them ;

🐛 They are of the Moth Family
🐛 Found in WA Coastal Areas mostly
🐛 You may have heard them called Hairy Mary
🐛 Once a Moth, they’re wingspan will range up to 90mm across !

🍃 Lemon Scented Gum {Corymbia citriodora} 🍃

This big girl was leaning towards the neighbours slightly, so Josh climbed up and gave her a good Weight Reduction cut . She’s now clear of power lines and safer for all 🍃

FYI - the Lemon Scented Gum Foliage is widely used in perfumes, soaps and other cosmetics due to its aromatic properties.

🍃 Nesting Season 🍃
You may have noticed an increased number of birds in pairs - hovering around hollows or nests lately.
July / August is nesting season for our precious wildlife most of the time.

So what does this mean for us at Punshon Tree Services ??
It means a job may take a little longer as we need to check the hollows and nests BEFORE we do any work to a tree.
If there is a nest, we will usually reschedule your job for after nesting season once the nest is clear and the babes have fled 🍃

Due to the size, these guys are not suitable for most home gardens. You will normally see them around parks!

Named Spotted Gum due to the spotty pattern on the bark 🍃 The wood from these guys is widely used in construction,, like flooring etc.

Coming through Eucla - it was important for us to get all of our work boots & climbing gear out for inspection by the officers here.
These checkpoints are our FIRST defence in protecting our state against unwanted pests, weeds & diseases. 🍃
Being that we conducted work in NSW , our gear had to be cleaned & inspected upon entry. Cheers to the officers protecting our state on this line !!

🍃 Apple Gum {Eucalyptus bridgesiana}

Recently we worked in New South Wales! And this big girl is not something you will see in WA, as they are grown from Queensland through to NSW 🍃

The Apple Gum, or Apple Box, has a softer wood than other Eucalyptus, and therefore is not good for building or even using as firewood - BUT, the honey that comes from the Bee’s feeding on the Apple Gums small white flowers is of HIGH quality 🐝
