Another day another yawn ,
And people look on with scorn.😤
What’s he doing he’s trying to attack it’s in their blood it’s hard wired !
And I say nah mate he’s just tired 🥱.

Nate has been reported as has B**g eye a number of times from the ferry. Nate, often because he’s in a “threatening “ pose which is just a yawn in the middle of the river. So his mouth open scary threat is nothing more than a yawn . And poor B**g eye, the ferry goes through his home he’s familiar with it , so doesn’t duck under, he waits for it to pass . This is reported to the department as crocs acting in an “UNUSUAL “ manner ! These animals are so misunderstood and the fact that each one is an individual seems impossible for people to fathom . As is them navigating a human dominated world. There’s a viral video someone took and B**g eye got stuck on the ferry cables now he just waits for the ferry to pass and is frequently seen. It’s very disappointing to find all the “experts” out there reporting these crocs to the department listing “unusual “ behaviour.

I hope we can learn this is their home and it’s so easy to coexist. The more we understand them and understand our place in nature rather than dominating it, the better it will be for us all . ALL crocs are dangerous not just yawning ones. This idea that crocs should be hiding from us and somehow we think that makes us safe is crazy . Millions of years creating the perfect ambush predator if they want to hunt you, you won’t know they are there. It’s the croc you don’t see that is the one that gets you . A visible croc just floating high is not hunting.

I often hear that education and signs don’t work . Imagine if that argument was used with speeding and drink driving ? We would ban cars and alcohol . We can’t stop all risky behaviour, but education and signs can minimise it . It’s a human management problem NOT a croc one. We don’t blame cars because someone was speeding or alchol because they were drink driving , why do we balme crocs because someone one refused to be croc wise ?

Be croc wise in croc country and let’s both coexist.
