Not many people will read your PhD thesis, but if you completed your doctoral research at the ANU's College of Science, then Tabitha Carvan has probably read one small part of it. What she found is a kind of poetry in the science.
Check out this amazing multi-media essay produced by the ANU College of Science Communications Team:
The unexpected poetry of PhD acknowledgements After reading hundreds and hundreds of PhD theses, we accidentally discovered how to write the perfect PhD acknowledgement: it's a kind of poetry.

As a part of our National Science Week 2024 calendar, the ANU Science Society is excited to announce that 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) is running once again!
——————————————————
What is 3MT?
A competition where our undergraduate researchers have 3 minutes to explain their projects to a multidisciplinary audience using one static powerpoint slide. The event focuses on strong communication skills and we hope to include a wide range of projects at ANU.
Do I have to be a science student to present?
Absolutely not! This year we are encouraging undergraduate students from all disciplines with a passion for research to participate. Regardless of your discipline, if there’s something you’re passionate to present, we are excited to hear it!
Do you have any examples?
Yep - the 2022 ANU 3MT Finals can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz7Cdzd4kjk&ab_channel=ANUTV
What can I get out of participating?
We will be providing free communication workshops led by experts in science communication and rehearsal to equip you with the skills you need to present your research with confidence and fun. It’s a good opportunity to show off your knowledge and skills to a wide range of audience including ANU academics who will form the judging panel. Not to mention, cash prizes will be rewarded to our top presenters!
