The Australian Government will maintain the 2020-21 Migration Program planning level at 160,000. Family Stream places will increase from 47,732 to 77,300 places on a one-off basis.

Existing skilled migration occupation lists will remain active and visas will still be processed, but priority will be given to those in occupations on the PMSOL.

The Department of Home Affairs has advised that they will waive the visa application for the students who couldn't finish their course in time because of COVID-19.

Home Affairs has updated their online application and introduced a new form to be provided with the Student visa application at the time of lodgement.

Application must be lodged after midnight on 05 August 2020 and must have held a Student visa on or after 01 February 2020.

The Department of Home Affairs has announced that until otherwise advised, the existing 2019-20 Migration Program settings will continue to remain in place. This means the 2020-21 planning ceiling will be retained at 160,000 places, the level set for the 2019-20 Migration Program.

This includes:
 108,682 places for the Skill stream.
 47,732 places for the Family stream.
 236 places for the Special Eligibility stream.
 3,350 places for Child visas
