Today marks the start of Kidney Health Week 2022, so we thought it would be the perfect time to provide you with some tips on how to best look after your kidneys.

As with many other health conditions, eating a well-balanced diet plays a huge part in your overall health and wellbeing, and it’s no different with your kidneys. As a rule of thumb, you should stay away from processed foods and eat plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and foods that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids.

Exercise also plays a major part in maintaining healthy kidneys as well as having many other health benefits. You should try and exercise for at least 30 minutes a day and aim for about 150 minutes a week and always ensure you stay well hydrated.

And this probably goes without saying but we’ll say it anyway. It’s best not to drink alcohol or to smoke.

Tip…

Use a disposable dehumidifier (moisture absorber) during the cooler months to help reduce excess condensation in rooms, and to reduce the likelihood of indoor mould. They’re readily available at most hardware stores… and they’re cheap!
