Tim Podesta Junior Company begins!


We are thrilled to announce that 15 of our students will be again working with Tim Podesta, this time as part of his Junior Company in an opportunity that culminates in performances of a new full length contemporary dance work in Wodonga in October and The Edge Theatre at Fed Square in Melbourne in December.

Tim Podesta is an internationally-renowned and celebrated choreographer. This is an incredible opportunity to work with an industry professional. We cannot wait to see this new work on stages later in the year!!

Let’s meet Stella Woods, a member of our supremely talented WIRED ensemble cast.
 
Stella has been dancing for 13 years and is no stranger to The Training Ground’s projects, having participated in both UNRAVEL in 2022 and UNHINGED in 2023.
 
“Performing in UNHINGED in 2023 and UNRAVEL in 2022 were by far some of my most treasured dance memories. I also love competing as a troupe and in solos at various competitions and furthering my experience in all my classes and incredible workshops throughout the years. I am also excited to continue working with Tim Podesta towards his show in Melbourne on 22 July and all the opportunities that will come with that.”
 
“My desire to participate in WIRED this year came from the growth and enjoyment I found in the last two shows. I believe working towards these projects in the past have helped me become a more intelligent dancer and will continue to prepare me for a world beyond graduation. I also love the community aspect of participating in shows like these and the lifelong friendships made along the way.”
 
“I have loved getting to know the cast and learning so much from everyone’s individual experiences. I also really enjoy seeing the show beginning to piece together and understanding how the story unfolds. Adjusting to the new storylines and choreography of each show is also a really fun experience and it helps me to become a more versatile dancer and overall improve my ability to perform and tell a story through my dancing.”
 
Stella definitely sees dance being a big part of her life in the coming years and going into the future.
 
“I would like to audition for full-time dance school post-graduation with the intent and hope of one day performing with a contemporary dance company. I’m excited to see where the journey takes me but I couldn’t imagine a life without dance in it.”

Dance has been a big part of Lois’ life and she hopes to continue dance as a recreational activity in the future.
