Committee Reintroductions ๐ฃ
Meet our Committee member Kyra!
Kyra has 9 yearsโ experience working as an Executive Assistant. She brings a range of perspectives and ideas to her work, along with the ability to sustain strong collaborative relationships. Kyra has extensive knowledge and experience in the provision of high-level administrative support across a number of Departments in the Australian Public Service. She also enjoys playing a leadership role within EA networks and has taken on a number of mentor roles, supporting less-experienced EAs both within her Department and externally. She is passionate about supporting and building up new EAs to be the best they can be.
Prior to joining the Public Service, Kyra held various Administrative Assistant positions in the private sector working in residential property valuations and commercial asset management. She was able to hone the skills she learned in these roles and apply them when she moved into the EA role.
When sheโs not at work you will find Kyra spending time with her two young sons, whether itโs at the swimming pool, riding bikes or making mud pies in the backyard.
Fun fact: Kyra gave herself a fear of heights when she went sky driving for the first time in New Zealand ๐ช

Ask for More, Seek More, Learn More: The Executive Assistantโs Path to Growth
In todayโs fast-paced corporate landscape, the role of an Executive Assistant (EA) has evolved beyond traditional administrative duties. EAs are now pivotal players in the success of their organisations, acting as strategic partners to executives and contributing to critical decision-making processes. To maximize impact and career development, it is essential for EAs to adopt a proactive mindset characterized by the mantra: Ask for more, Seek more, Learn more.

How to beat the mid-year blues ๐ฅถ
Itโs cold here in Australia which means a lot of us are suffering from the mid-year blues or for its medial term Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
A great article from Mullen Health (https://mullenhealth.com.au/how-to-beat-the-mid-year-blues/) explains that this can effect so many people during the change of seasons. The reason? Less sunlight can impact your circadian rhythm โ the bodyโs biological clock that controls certain brain activity and hormone production, leading to tiredness and even depression.
Hereโs some great tips to beat this:
1. Get up and greet the day ๐
2. Make exercise part of your routine ๐๏ธ
3. Eat mood boosting foods ๐
4. Take vitamin D supplement โ๏ธ
5. Surround yourself with positive people ๐งโ๐งโ๐งโ๐ง
6. Be kind to yourself โค๏ธ
Our committee member Lizzy has been feeling this all too well as she hates the cold! This is one of the reasons she kicked off the Networking walks around the lake is it ticks off half of the ways to prevent SAD. Book your spot with the link in bio.
Let us know how youโre feeling this time of year?
Committee Reintroductions ๐ฃ
Meet our Co-Chair Ursula Kohler!
With both private and public sector long-term EA experience, Ursula is an EA career advocate and Founder of Capital EA, which she founded after seeing a gap in the market of businesses needing to recognise the potential of a good EA. Ursula loves to challenge EAs to step out of their comfort zones, empowering them to chase their dreams by helping provide a little focus, confidence and some clear vision. Through good leadership and a long-term plan for success, the role of the EA continues to be acknowledged as a career that is growing and moving rapidly as a crucial member and wing person to the Executive and their team.
Fun fact: whilst travelling abroad when young, Ursula happened to cross paths with a celebrity golf tournament and found herself in a karaoke session with one of them singing their song. ๐
Anyone want to guess who the celebrity was?
