Sensitivity Project

It’s not only overt child abuse that negatively impacts later mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Here is a short list of some childhood emotional experiences that can impact adult wellbeing:
1. Having your emotions dismissed, minimized, or invalidated.
2. Having your emotions ignored / being left alone when you were upset or angry.
3. Being told you were “too sensitive”.
4. Being punished or scolded for expressing emotions.
5. Being made to feel responsible for a parent’s emotions.
6. Having a caregiver take on your emotions in a way that left you without someone “stronger”.
7. Having to walk on eggshells to avoid a parent’s or sibling’s emotional reactions.
8. Growing up in a family that didn’t talk about or express emotions.

Sensitivity Project

Little boys feel just as much as little girls. If we want men to be able to offer emotional support to their partners, their children, and each other, then we need to encourage and support little boys to understand and express their emotions from the very beginning.

www.instagram.com/sitwithwhit is apparently the original poster. I was given this without context exactly as it is. I did not modify it to remove anyone's name. Also, I don't use Instagram and I do not sit at my computer all the time, so I am doing this as soon as I saw responses about it. I just saw it as a fact filled image.

Children who hear more words from their parents have better language skills and success at school...

BUT...

It isn’t enough to just talk a lot with your child. You need to connect and pay attention to what they are interested in. Then you will find your child can tune in to what you are saying to connect with you and learn new words.

Fine Motor Boot Camp

Dental Health Month Activity! We made "mouths" out of white Legos, then used a black dry erase marker to color "cavities/plaque" on the teeth (white Legos). The kids had to scrub the marker off using toothbrushes, then "floss" in between the teeth using a flosser. They LOVED this activity and even started drawing "braces" on the teeth. It was great to build fine motor skills and language. LEGO LEGO Education

Our Story

Little Ones FDC will sadly be closing it’s doors at the start of 2019. Whilst I am looking forward to teaching full time again, I will miss all the lovely children that have made our halls echo with laughter, joy and friendship.

This page will remain open, but the focus will be on delivering interesting information in regards to the education and care of young children.

Thank you all for your support and love over the years.
