I have a public speaking commitment this weekend and I was asked to bring with me a brief update of what I am up to with work - so that people might have the opportunity to learn what I do, and discover how to partner with me in my various community building and ministry initiatives.
So, I whipped up this update to let people know a bit about what I am up to. And I figured, why not post it here too?!?
Since moving to Canberra my employment has been anything but ordinary. For the first time ever I have found myself in the exciting and stressful position of working for organizations that don't make a profit... like, not even enough to break even! These not-for-profits are so committed to loving without strings attached that they can only afford to pay their staff and run their programs because we have generous financial partners + an amazing crew of volunteers.
If you choose to have a quick suss and like what you see lemme know. There is always room for more partners and volunteers.

mikes ministry update I have the privilege of working for two Christian not-for-profits; Young Life Australia, and OAC Ministries. Both of these organisations employ me to demonstrate and declare the love of Jesus to people who have not yet heard the good news. In so doing, I am also creating opportunities for others to....
Community is Heavenâs design for us â a place where we're KNOWN, LOVED and BELONG.
For young people, especially, a supportive community can be the difference between facing life's challenges alone and navigating them with confidence, knowing they have a network of care and support.
Thatâs Young Life. Weâre here to Know, Love and Embrace young people, that they may not âdo lifeâ alone.

Young Life Canberra, in partnership with Red Frogs, has stepped into the university space. The ministry model at university will be the same as in the high school space, helping students move from belonging to believing through incarnational ministry - earning the right to be heard, starting with pancakes.
Fortnightly pancakes have commenced and we are looking for more volunteer leaders to help build relationships and serve pancakes on Fridays fortnightly at 10 am. The kind of leaders who are also interested in pursuing relationships with these uni students outside of the fortnightly meal.
The next ANU Pancake Breakfast will be This Friday, April 19 at 10 am. Would you like to join us?!?
If you would like to know more about the ministry plans of YL CBR at ANU, or, if you have heard enough and want to join the team please flick us an email.

Over the years, Young Life Canberra has had the privilege of being a tool that God has used to bring teens to faith and to help these teens find their way into local churches. For many, this journey from unbelief to faith and fellowship begins over pancakes.
Young Life Canberra presently run pancake breakfast programs in two ACT high schools. These programs create an opportunity to build bridges between high schools and their local churches. Volunteers from local Churches have begun relationships over pancakes that have become lifelong discipleship relationships.
Young Life Canberra hopes to kick off two new pancake breakfasts in two new schools in the new year. Are you and your Church interested in partnering with us to see this happen?
Belconnen High School and Melba Copeland Secondary School have loved having Young Life serving the students in their schools. In fact, they are so happy with us that the executive staff at these schools have told us that if we want to approach a new school, they are willing and ready to call the new school to provide a referral.
We are ready to help your Church reach into your local high school.
Are you interested?
Do you want to know more?
Would you consider partnering with Young Life to bless and serve a high school near you?

For some teenagers, summer camp is the only time in their year they get to experience a safe place filled with love and hope. No wonder they look forward to returning!
Please help us sponsor a teen to camp whose family and socio-economic circumstances do not allow them to experience the âbest week of their livesâ

đWhy do you choose to be with YL?
I love the way young life focusses on connection and just simply loving. Itâs something I really could have used in high school, and now Iâm in the position to be there for youth in that way.

The YL Staff are all amazing people. I love the times we can get together, there is never a dull moment. And they bring that energy to the kids so effortlessly.
đïž Whatâs an adventure on your bucket list?
I want to go to Japan, do snowboarding and see a festival.
âïž What piece of wisdom do you have for your teenage self?
Donât try and force yourself to change. Let it happen, you have time to grow.
