The winter conditions haven’t stopped Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation rolling out their regenerate program, which has seen kids planting hundreds of trees across Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.
In Sydney, another group was involved in nature walks, seed planting and other activities to connect with their environment and their own wellbeing.
Thanks to our Bupa Foundation partners at Kookaburra Kids, for supporting nature and good mental health.🌳🌟

Thanks Elka and team for all that you do– do you take song requests?

Lia and Alice may be a few years apart, but they both love a bold red. 😄❤️
Alice is our Lifestyle and Wellbeing Manager at Bupa Aged Care Coburg, where Lia lives.
Their faces lit up when they realised they shared the same great taste in winter woollies and wanted to capture the moment.
Lia says Alice looks better in red, but we think they both look fabulous! 💃👵

Proud Nywaigi man, and Bupa dentist, Niels Kirsten, is a firm believer in more visible educational pathways for those who may not think they can get into higher education. After finishing high school, Niels picked pineapples and worked at the local meatworks before becoming a nurse and then a dentist.
For Niels, NAIDOC week is about recognising and acknowledging his background. He says when it comes to his culture and heritage, he asks just one thing of the wider community.

Kerri plays piano, flute and pipe organ but isn’t afraid to turn up the volume to her favourite songs.
“I love dancing at home to Get the Party Started, especially turned up loud whilst doing the housework,” Kerri says.
“Music really speaks to your soul, can lift your mood when need, can be reflective, can calm.”

He’s got moves that would have made Fred Astaire jealous and at 102, Ron’s still burning up the dance floor twice a week.
“I’ve really enjoyed my life, especially when I used to go out dancing with my wife Joan. Dancing has been a marvellous part of my life,” he says.
Ron is a beloved resident at Bupa Aged Care Tugun and loves the garlic prawns there. He also swears by starting the day right, drinking the juice of half a lemon and reminding himself: “today’s a good day because I woke up.”
Ron’s also been there for some pivotal moments in Australia’s history, including when the Sydney Harbour Bridge was built.
“I used to sit on the hill and watch the workers. I was there the day it opened in 1932,” he says.
He was also the youngest sergeant in the army, when he joined aged 19.
Happy 102nd birthday Ron – thank you for sharing your extra special day and story with us.

Tiny Forest – immense impact. 🌱
We loved working with Bupa partners Earthwatch Australia and local school kids who jumped at the opportunity to get their hands dirty and take an active part in their futures. Some even left personal messages on bark, for others to enjoy.
The size of just a tennis court, green spaces like this in Melbourne’s Monash area are filled with indigenous species, supporting greater biodiversity - supercharged to grow up to 10 times faster than traditional forests.

It may be winter, but that doesn’t mean you should pack your sunnies away.
Our Bupa Optical team in Bridge St, Sydney modelled their best Zoolander looks for World Sunglasses Day today - and totally nailed it.
Optical dispenser, Renae says sunnies are more than just to help you stay ridiculously good looking – like Derek Zoolander – and will help with the winter glare, including reflections off wet surfaces.
Most of us are familiar with Hawk-Eye for helping get the calls right in sport – and now there’s Bupakam, to help you find the best glasses.
The tech uses augmented reality so you can see how you look in your new frames. It also shows you how different lenses and coatings work in various scenarios, from night driving to looking at a computer screen.

There’s nothing like Grandfriends Day, or ‘Gigi’, as the local Gold Coast kids call it when they catch up with our Runaway Aged Care home residents.
Every Bupa Aged Care home in Australia now has an intergenerational program, where local kinder, primary or secondary school students come for activities with our residents.
The kinder kids come for stories, games and songs with our residents, creating ageless bonds.
Roars and cheers are synonymous with the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) – but it was silence that carried power during a sombre reflection for the Carlton Football Club respects game against Geelong Football Club.
The crowd, victims’ families and players joined together to remember and honour women whose lives were taken as a result of domestic or family violence in 2024.
Orange lights were lit up and took over the hallowed turf in honour of each woman.
We know there’s a long way to go, but we’re committed to keep starting conversations and building on the work being done across our communities to end gender-based violence.
As Carlton’s member partner, we donated $75,218 to Carlton Respects, representing a dollar for each fan who attended the game. This money will go towards learning programs for primary school students in Grades 3 to 6, including encouraging respectful relationships and challenging gender stereotypes.
If you or someone you know is impacted by sexual assault, domestic or family violence, call 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732 or visit 1800respect.org.au. If in immediate danger, call 000.
Take your next step to better heart health.
New research shows that climbing stairs can reduce heart disease risk by 39% and it’s also linked to a longer life.
If you can, skip the lift and take the stairs to help improve your overall health. Every step will help look after your heart.

The avid surfer, and Bupa’s Director of Risk and Governance, says flexible working arrangements also supports him to prioritise regular exercise and quality family time.

When you need healthcare, it should be easy. The problem often is that the system can be fragmented.
