INTRODUCING...

The Wise Project
Honouring the stories of our elders

The Wise project is a photography project about our elders – our parents, grandparents, friends and mentors – to honour their stories and their wisdom.
The project will culiminate in an exhibition at The Front in Lyneham in 2025.

This is a rare and special opportunity for families to have beautiful portraits that celebrate our elder generation, to celebrate their achievements, their story and their legacy.

You can apply for a spot in Wise on behalf of your parent/s (just make sure you chat with them about it and get them on board), or you can ask them to apply themselves. We’re accepting from retirement age and up into this project, and we would like to feature a big cross-section of elders of all ages and backgrounds.

And in true Heartstory style, we are giving you the opportunity to use part of your allocated session time for photos with grand-kids and other family members, because there is no time like the present.

Client requests fog; Canberra delivers!

This was a very cold ❄️, but also very cool 😎 morning session from a few weeks back.

We shoot all year round and we love it when clients embrace the season. One of our favourite things about living and working in Canberra is the very defined seasons we have here! It gives us so much variety to work with and so truly no two sessions ever look the same.

We are just so thrilled with the results from this one and so is this wonderful family - flick through the images to read their kind words.

New logo, who dis?! 😱

We have been working away behind the scenes with an incredible brand designer for the past few months on a new look for our beloved business.

In small-business years, we've reached the age where your brain is fully developed and it felt like a fitting time to invest in a new look and feel.

Why a magpie, you might be wondering?

Jeremy and Katie have lived in multiple cities over the course of their lives and they have never lived anywhere with as many magpies as Canberra. They agree that the warble of a magpie in the early morning hours feels like home. Some other fun facts about magpies include:
🐦 They recognise faces (so do photographers)
🐦 They are family-obsessed (like us)
🐦 They are playful and curious and pretty charismatic birds (except in swooping season of course)
🐦 They have a huge variety of complex and beautiful calls and songs which we think makes them creative and interesting (like people)

Something else pretty special about our logo is how the magpie is facing forwards while looking back. And that's how we feel about our kids growing up and time flying past as fast as it does. Of course there are always times in life we don't want to look back on, but photos give us a beautiful window to memories we would otherwise forget. Our photography gives you nostalgia for keeps.
