The history of the club has its foundations in several clubs including Ainslie, Northbourne, Turner, Northern Suburbs and City District stretching as far back as 1913.

In 1999, the club changed its name to North Canberra Gungahlin Cricket Club to reflect its move into the Gungahlin region, and its strong commitment to growing the game in the area.
