BREAKING NEWS: NO STUDENT VISAS FOR PEOPLE ONSHORE (IN AUSTRALIA) ON TOURIST AND GRADUATE VISAS (SC485) FROM 1 JULY 2024
- Those on Visitor Visas and Temporary Graduate Visa will no longer be able to apply for Student Visas onshore.
-The changes will come into place on 1 July.
-They are in addition to others that have come in place this year to reduce migration.
-Further updates will be provided as they become available.
Finally Some Good News!!!!: The WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT FOR TSS 482 WORK VISA REDUCED FROM 2 TO 1 YEAR.
-This change is scheduled to be applicable from 23 November 2024 onwards.
--The new direction of the Govt seems to be towards Employer Sponsored Visas.

GOOD NEWS: PR PATHWAY FOR ALL TSS VISA HOLDER (482/457 visa) AFTER 2 YEARS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Significant reforms to the TRT stream of the ENS visa have occurred from 25 November 2023, aiming to create a more accessible PR pathway for all TSS visa holders. Under these changes:
- Sponsoring employers can now nominate all TSS visa holders for permanent residency, including Short-term and Labour Agreement streams.
-Unlike before, nominated occupations will no longer be confined to the skilled occupation list. Instead, they must be listed in the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO). TSS workers must continue to work in their TSS nominated occupation.
-The duration that TSS workers must hold their visa and work in their nominated occupation has been reduced to 2 years (instead of 3) before transitioning to 186 visa.

Closure of 408 - Pandemic Event visa
From 2 September 2023, the Pandemic Event visa will only be available to people who already hold a Pandemic Event visa.
These visa holders may be eligible for a subsequent visa until we close this visa to all applications on 1 February 2024.
All other visa holders will be ineligible for the Pandemic Event visa from 2 September 2023.

Are you an international student who has recently graduated? If you are looking to apply for a Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485), please note that some of the requirements are changing. If you apply for a subclass 485 visa in the Graduate Work stream from 1 July 2023, you will need to show:
🎓 You have a qualification relevant to an occupation on the skilled occupation list, and
📥 You have applied for a skills assessment in your nominated occupation on the skilled occupation list.

GOOD NEWS: CANBERRA'S 491 AND 190 NOMINATION CRITERIA RELAXED FOR CANBERRA RESIDENTS:
-Candidates with competent English can now apply for SC 491 nomination among other changes.
-These changes will take immediate effect once uploaded to the ACT Govt website and current policy settings will not be applied retroactively.
This means that a Canberra Matrix submitted in the last six months will be assessed against the new ACT Nomination Guidelines.

Students will be able to work for 48 hours fortnight from 01/07/2023
BREAKING NEWS: PROESSIONAL YEAR (PY) NOT REQUIRED TO BE COMMENCED WITHIN THE 48 MONTHS PERIOD BEFORE THE INVITATION.
Instead, the 48 months relates to the date on which the PY ended. So in simple terms 48 months from the completion date of the PY for claiming points for PY.

- ACT Govt has now increased allocation FOR SC 190 Nominations (2025 PLACES FOR SC 190 AND 2025 FOR SC 491 Nominations)
-The minimum Canberra Matrix score required to receive an invitation to apply for ACT nomination of a 190 visa will likely drop (could be as low as 70 initially, with the possibility to drop further depending on occupation demand and the numbers of remaining places)
-All interested applicants are encouraged to submit a Canberra Matrix for 190 nominations.

Temporary Graduate Visa REPLACEMENT STREAM
This stream is only available to current or former Temporary Graduate visa holders who lost time in Australia as a result of COVID-19 travel restrictions.
To apply for this visa you must either:
hold a Temporary Graduate visa as the main holder; or
have held a Temporary Graduate visa as the main holder and currently hold another substantive visa, or a Bridging visa A or Bridging visa B.
You will be eligible to apply if, as the main holder:
you have held a Graduate Work stream or first Post Study Work stream Temporary Graduate visa that was:
granted before 15 December 2021 and
in effect on or after 1 February 2020
have lost time on your visa because of Australia’s COVID-19 travel restrictions.

🎯!! regarding 485 visa (Onshore & Offshore) !!🎯
1) Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa holders who have been unable to travel to Australia as a result of COVID-19 international border restrictions will be able to apply for a replacement visa. This will allow current and former Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa holders whose visas expired on or after 1 February 2020 to re-apply for a new subclass 485 visa of the same duration as their original visa.
2) Additionally, the Morrison Government will increase the length of stay on the Temporary Graduate visa from two to three years for Masters by coursework graduates, matching that of Masters by reseach graduates. Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector graduates will also receive a two year Temporary Graduate visa.
3) The new visa settings will also extend existing measures for students and temporary graduates to recognise time spent offshore studying online to count towards qualifying for a temporary graduate visa.
Further support for international education sector and international students The Morrison Government will introduce further targeted measures to support the international education sector to roar back, as international borders reopen. More than $37 million will be available to support those international education providers most affected by COVID-19. Extended regulatory fee....

The media is reporting a raft of changes to the migration programs including pathways to PR for STSOL visa holders in health and hospitality and longer SC 485s for international students studying Masters by course work.
The only information available at this time is through media reports and Ministerial media releases. No detail is available.

BREAKING NEWS: s48 barred applicants can lodge applications in Australia for Subclass 491, 190 and 494 from 13 Nov 2021.
A very good news for the visa applicants who are S48 bared. From 13 Nov 2021, they can now lodge their skilled visa application Subclass 491, 190 and 494 onshore. That means they don’t have to depart Australia to lodge their visa applications. Its a great relief and a good initiative from the government to retain skilled workers in Australia.
