Remember this Kenyan runner Abel Mutai who was just a few feet from the finish line, but became confused with the signage and stopped, thinking he had completed the race?

A Spanish runner, Ivan Fernandez, was right behind him, realizing what was happening, and started shouting at the Kenyan to continue running.
Mutai didn't know Spanish and didn't understand.
Realizing what was taking place, Fernandez pushed Mutai to victory.

A journalist asked Ivan, "Why did you do that?"

Ivan replied, "My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life where we push and help each other to win."

The journalist insisted:
"But why did you let the Kenyan win?"

Ivan replied, "I didn't let him win, he was going to win. The race was his."

The journalist insisted:
"But you could have won!"

Ivan looked at him and replied,
"But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honor in that medal?
What would my Mother think of that?"

Values are passed on from generation to generation.

What values are we teaching our children?

Let us not teach our kids the wrong ways and means to WIN.
Instead, let us pass on the beauty and humanity of a helping hand.
Because honesty and ethics are WINNING!

Children aged five to 11 can now be booked in for a COVID-19 vaccination through an ACT government clinic.

Appointments are available from January 10, but the government says due to the children's age parents will need to call the COVID-19 vaccination booking line, rather than booking online.

Vaccines will also be available through some GPs and pharmacies.

"There are about 46,000 children aged 5 to 11 years in the ACT so we do expect our booking line to be quite busy with parents and carers making those bookings over the next little while," Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith says.

We did it Canberra! 🥳 More than 95% of eligible Canberrans are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19 💪

This means more than 95% of ACT residents aged 12 years and over have now received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine 💉💉

Thank you Canberra for taking the time to roll up your sleeves (TWICE) to protect yourself and our community ✌️

With 8 weeks left of 2021 – we’ve pulled off this amazing feat, an Australian-first, and we couldn’t be prouder of you 💙

If you’ve had your first dose, don’t forget to get your second dose 🗓️

While you’ll have some protection as early as 12 days after your first dose, protection from one dose is likely to be short lived 📉

Two doses greatly reduces your chance of hospitalisation, ICU admission or death 🏥

It also takes up to 2 weeks after your second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine for it to protect you 🛡️

If you need help with booking in for your second dose, use the Vaccine Clinic Finder https://covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/eligibility?lang=en 🔎

Otherwise give us a call to speak to someone in our team 5124 7700 (7am to 7pm, daily) 📞

The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) released a statement today recommending a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine as part of the primary course in individuals who are severely immunocompromised.

You can read the ATAGI advice here: www.health.gov.au/news/atagi-statement-on-the-use-of-a-3rd-primary-dose-of-covid-19-vaccine-in-individuals-who-are-severely-immunocompromised

This third primary dose is not to be considered a booster dose for the general population. It is a third dose – to complete the regular course of vaccination – for a very specific cohort of vulnerable Australians to ensure they have the highest level of protection available against COVID-19.

We are currently working with the Commonwealth Government to determine how third doses will be delivered to eligible people in the ACT.

❗️ Please be aware that ACT Government clinics are not taking bookings for third vaccine doses at this time.

If you are severely immunocompromised, we suggest that from next week you should reach out to your GP or specialist to discuss your individual circumstances and whether a third dose is right for you.

There is currently no recommendation for the general population to receive a booster vaccine dose.

We will provide more information when it becomes available.
