Talking about Mumbai Style Veg Cheese Grilled Sandwich it is a two layered sandwich filled with potato, onion, tomato, capsicum, sometimes cucumber, a lip-smacking green chutney, butter, cheese, sandwich masala and chat masala topped with lots of cheese and finished with two side chutneys (Green Chutney and Red Chutney) and Chips. Now even talking about this is making me nostalgic of all the times we use to go to these famous joints in Mumbai that sell this delicious sandwich and well many other sandwiches and the one that is coming to my mind right now is Sandwizzaa in Santacruz West or Lucky Sandwich in Parle West. My most cherished memories of childhood were going to ‘Highway Gomantak in Bandra’ or ‘Gomantak in Dadar’ with my extended family to enjoy delicious Fish Thalis or a Chicken Thali cooked in those delicious Konkani or Goan flavours that is just irresistible. If you reside near the coastal area of Maharashtra, you can relate to these flavours. Later on, new places came on board like Gajalee or Mahesh Lunch (food is absolutely lip smacking) and many more but the childhood memories of those two restaurants remain closer to my heart than any other restaurant.
We at Ghar Ka Swad - A Homely Meal do our best to bring those flavours to your plate here in Melbourne to the closest or the best we can to those flavours of Maharashtra (although it cannot be replicated due to the taste of vegetables in India and the water itself and everyone has a bit of their own flavours that they add to their food). Our aim is that every time you eat our food it should remind you or take you back to those memories that you would have cherished in Mumbai or Pune or any state in Maharashtra where you would have eaten these Thalis.

Fish Thali $25.00 – 5 Prawns Fry, Pomfret or King Fish Curry (depending on availability), Spicy Pithale 2 Jowar Bhakris or 3 Chapatis, Rice, Solkadhi and Salad

Kolhapuri Mutton Thali $23.00 – Basundi, Kolhapuri Mutton Rassa, Tambda Rassa, Pandhra Rassa, Alni, 2 Jowar Bhakris or 3 Chapatis, Rice, Solkadhi and Salad
