WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiatives are at the heart of our commitment to ensuring that every community has access to essential resources. Through these projects, the construction of wells in vulnerable communities provides sustainable water access crucial for both health and agriculture.

Projects like rainwater harvesting ponds and check dams have revolutionised local landscapes, allowing families to diversify crops and secure their livelihoods. Each new well represents not just a source of water, but a foundation for future growth and stability.

Discover how you can be part of this transformative work. Visit our website to learn more about our WASH projects and see the impact of your support.

The monsoon season in Nepal has brought unprecedented devastation this year, with heavy rains causing landslides and flooding across the country. Since June, 154 lives have been lost, and 4,238 families have been displaced. The need for urgent support is greater than ever.

'Heavy' rain (50-100mm in 24 hours) has been recorded in 55 locations across Nepal. A special weather bulletin warns of more heavy rainfall due to the monsoon low-pressure trough moving across the region.

In the western regions, entire communities have been uprooted, with homes, crops, and livelihoods destroyed. The recent landslides in Kaski and Rukum West have left families mourning their loved ones and searching for safety. Many remain in temporary shelters, vulnerable to the ongoing rains.

INF Nepal, in partnership with ACN, is on the ground, providing immediate relief; having distributed tarps, blankets, and mattresses to displaced families, but much more is needed.

We ask your help and prayers to continue our response efforts and meet the critical needs of these communities. Please consider donating to support our work in providing shelter, food, and essential supplies to those affected.

Your generosity can make a difference. Together, we can bring hope and relief to those impacted by this disaster.

In Aathbiskot, West Rukum, the "One House One Tap" scheme has transformed lives by providing 148 households with their own water taps. Supported by INF Australia and Shanti Nepal, this initiative has dramatically improved health and freed up time for education and other activities, especially for women and children who previously spent hours fetching water.

As we focus on the need for ‘Safe Water’ in the next few months, we invite you to join us in giving safe water to more communities in need.

In John 4:10, Jesus speaks of "Living Water" that offers eternal life, reminding us that while water can quench our physical thirst, it is the living water of Jesus that sustains us spiritually.

Together, let's ensure that both safe and living water flow freely, bringing hope and transformation to Nepal.

Nepal's monsoon season is here, bringing both life-giving water and devastating challenges. Many communities are at risk from floods, landslides, and waterborne diseases. This year's monsoon is expected to impact 1.8 million Nepalis.

Over the next few months, we will be raising money for safe water projects in Nepal through the WASH (Water, Health, and Sanitation) project. We are focusing on:
Disaster Relief: Providing essential food, hygiene packages, and temporary shelter.
Water Filters: Ensuring safe drinking water with clean water filters.

Community Water Taps: Installing community water taps in remote villages, a sustainable water supply can provide fresh water to those in need.

Join us in making a difference. For just AUD 80, you can provide a family with a water filter that ensures access to clean, safe drinking water. This small amount can drastically improve their quality of life by reducing the risk of waterborne diseases and allowing them to live healthier lives.

'If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.'" - Luke 4:10

Last weekend, we had the privilege of hosting an inspiring engagement event at St Mark’s UNE Church in Armidale with Naomi and Darren Reed, who shared their incredible journey with International Nepal Fellowship (INF). SInce the time they first travelled to Nepal their desire to use their skills and giftings to serve those most in need; to their ongoing commitment to health and community development - their stories deeply moved us.

Naomi recounted how the love and compassion shown at Green Pastures Hospital in Pokhara led many to seek the authentic care experienced by patients at GPH, making a resounding difference in their lives. Darren spoke about the challenges and triumphs of providing physiotherapy in remote regions, highlighting the transformative power of dedicated healthcare and training.

We were reminded of the profound difference that love, respect, and professional training can make in lives and communities. It was a beautiful testament to the lasting impact of faith and dedication over decades.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and supported this event. Together, we continue to work towards our vision of fullness of life for the people of Nepal.

In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Aathbiskot, West Rukum, in November 2023, the critical role of mental health in disaster recovery cannot be overstated. INF Australia, in collaboration with our partners Shanti Nepal and Elijah Counselling Training Centre, conducted trauma-informed care sessions in six schools, reaching 400 individuals.

In these sessions students learned about the different types of trauma, its symptoms, and coping mechanisms, helping them understand that their emotions were normal and valid. Group activities and personal sharing allowed many to express their grief for the first time.

One student shared his heartbreaking experience during the session: “We all were sleeping together in one row, there was my sister beside me, my mother, my father, and other brother, but when I felt the tremor and woke up I just saw that all of them were under this long and huge wooden log, they were not moving, I tried to lift it up but couldn’t.”

Please continue to pray for those recovering from the trauma of the earthquake and losses. Go to ing.org.au

*Anjali is a courageous woman from Banke who found her voice and reclaimed her rights with the help of a INF Nepal self-help group. Coming from a challenging domestic environment, Anjali's journey toward empowerment is a testament to resilience and community support.

Anjali joined the self-help group seeking knowledge and skills, especially in women's empowerment. Despite the hardships at home and being deprived of her rights, including the vital citizenship card, Anjali's determination never waned. With the group's support, she not only overcame barriers but also gained a new sense of identity and access to essential services. This achievement has allowed her to participate more fully in community life and advocate for herself and others facing similar challenges.

Her story is a powerful reminder of how your contributions help provide not just aid but a platform for individuals to grow, advocate, and transform their own lives.

As we close this financial year, let your donation be the catalyst for more stories like Anjali's. Help us continue to empower individuals and communities to stand up, speak out, and thrive.

Peppered through Nepali villages and mountain towns are some of the most inspiring people we have ever met. What’s most extraordinary is that these same people often have the least to work with, but their determination to look after their families and stand on their own two feet is so strong that, over and over, they work hard and find a way.

Some start businesses. Some start village initiatives to solve problems. Others care for people who need it and they all strive to make their meagre resources fruitful enough for survival.

These are the people who join our ‘Self Help Groups’, to work together on solving community problems and start sustaining businesses. They deserve every cent of support we can give them.

So this tax-time, consider giving a woman like Indra a small donation to generate her own income, making her self-reliant and able to fulfil her dreams for her family.

$20 gives seeds for a market garden.
$25 gives chickens for eggs and food
$250 gives a woman a chance to start her own business

This EOFY, we're celebrating stories of resilience that inspire. In Lakhudanda, a village carved into the rugged terrain of Kordha, a remarkable transformation led by Bikram Bahadur has revitalised the community. With support from INF Nepal's Climate Change Adaption Project and the local ward office, the village faced immense logistical challenges to construct a vital water collection tank.
Today, 22 households thrive, their fields lush with bananas, oranges, rice, and a variety of crops. "The water tank has not only relieved our hardships but has also ignited a flame of enterprise within us," shares Bikram. This project has transformed arid land into fertile fields, fostering a spirit of self-sufficiency and community resilience.

With deep gratitude, Bikram thanks all who have supported this endeavour: "Your kindness has transformed our lives." The community now looks forward to expanding their agricultural efforts and enhancing their irrigation systems, aiming for sustainable growth.

Last year, the quiet of a November night in West Rukum was shattered by a 6.4 magnitude earthquake. In moments, lives and livelihoods were devastated, leaving thousands vulnerable. But amidst this chaos, the strength and resilience of the community, supported by INF Australia, shone through.

INF Nepal and our partners mobilised quickly, delivering emergency supplies and support to the affected families within hours. Our fast-response disaster recovery teams, equipped with supplies from strategically placed warehouses, were crucial in these efforts.

Support from our donors in Australia was immediate and impactful. Contributions enabled us to provide essential items like food, warm clothing, and maternal health packs, which were life-saving for many, especially as the cold winter threatened further harm.

As we look to the future, our focus is on enhancing the resilience of these communities. We are working to ensure they are better prepared for such events, with training in disaster readiness, building earthquake-resistant homes, and supporting the recovery of livelihoods.

This tax-time, your support can help us continue this vital work. Together, we can help communities not only survive but thrive after disasters.

As we near the end of this financial year, we invite you to celebrate the resilience and advancements made by some of the most marginalised and vulnerable communities in Nepal through projects funded by INF Australia.

Our efforts are rooted in partnerships with local organisations that are integral to the communities they serve, aiming to empower and enhance health and well-being while providing critical support during disasters.

This year, we've seen transformative impacts:

Empowerment: Women and young people engaged in numerous villages in some of the most remote and needy communities.

Health and Disability: Comprehensive health services provided to thousands, including surgeries and disability support.

Disaster Response: Active involvement in disaster relief and climate resilience, helping communities recover and adapt to environmental challenges.

"Thanks to the dedication of our supporters, INF Australia continues to contribute to sustainable development that prepares communities for future challenges" Richard Reeve.

Your ongoing support is crucial. Every contribution helps us extend our mission of bringing life in all its fullness to Nepal's poor and marginalised.

Stand with us. Your support builds resilience.
