Due to the particle board subfloor, the following process is the minimum Australian standard
1. Uplift existing carpet
2. Remove existing carpet adhesive
3. Prime sub floor
4. Install MDF glue and staples and grind
5. Full glue vinyl
6. Heat weld joins

Honed and impregnating sealer. Has water repellency characteristics. Stain resistant and allows for the concrete to breathe.

About 400 kg of concrete dust removed thus far.

Epoxy resin flake coating for outdoor areas.
It all begins with subfloor preparation, the photos show
> grind and removal of existing coating and surface of subfloor
> removal of foreign objects and deep fill using epoxy resin
> prime coat with epoxy resin
> skim coat mixture with epoxy resin to improve surface appearance
> apply base coat.
> apply topcoat plus flake finish
> apply 2 clear coats.

Unfortunately this floor needed extensive treatment to acquire a desired finish.
The good news is that it is a extremely durable floor which is now part of a real world display. I’m using it in my tool storage area to put it through
Unrealistic conditions to ensure it’s durability.

The question of how much is a appropriate request but unfortunately there are many variables including existing floor flatness ( high and low areas), concrete mpa strength, cracks, foreign material removal, aeration of concrete.
Also there are a range of finishes and styles that vary in price.
For a standard flake range on a concrete subfloor that only requires grinding, prime coat, base coat and flake coating plus 2 topcoats a budget between $75-$80 sqm should be allowed for a basic patio area depending on the size and type of area.
Unfortunately all other variables require either site visit to assess floor flatness or in respect to what is under the surface can only be assessed once the surface grind has been completed. This works is evaluated on a job by job basis.

Concrete slab issues, Resillient flooring may be able to assist. Resillient flooring recently reduced height variations on a concrete floor to allow smooth access for forklift use, also treated cracked,broken and damaged pour joints . Due to ground movement Resillient flooring also had to grind out a channel so water can flow away from from the doorway which was causing damage to the inside of the building and existing vinyl flooring . A two coat application of sealer and job done.
