It is very important for all of us, including our First Nation People, Australian born, Refugees immigrants, Non Refugees Immigrants, English and Non-English speaking people because Harmony Day is a celebration of cultural diversity. We must have it in our city Coffs Harbour.

The last Harmony Day was held in Coffs Harbour in 2019.

We need your support to urge the Coffs Harbour City Council reinstate the Harmony Day in Coffs Harbour.

My name is Htun Htun Oo

HTUN Means brightness, shinning, illumination, splendour, resplendent, engendering, conducive and floodlights.
OO means first, head or leader.

I am a kind, friendly, helpful, smart, hard working and responsible person. I am a Buddhist and have followed Buddha’s teaching and live my life with as much sympathy and empathy as possible as I strongly believe in Karma. I am a naturally positive and confident person to be around and I make sure I am polite and respectful to everyone including children, female and senior citizens.

I was born in Mandalay, Myanmar in 1970 and I’m now 51 years old.
I arrived in Australia in 2003 as an immigrant and eventually became an Australian citizen.

I ran a small business in Myanmar and I was a paramedic before I migrated to this great Nation, Australia.

I used to work for many international/local NGOs (Non Government Organisation) in Thailand which shows that I do have experience and an understanding when it comes to working within the council.

Currently I am a registered nurse and I work in the Intensive Care Unit at Coffs Harbour Hospital. I also own a small business by the name of Kanaung Kitchenware & Giftware which you may have seen when driving through the Palm Centre. Our shop is located at 1/2 - 8 Harbour Drive, Coffs Harbour.

I am a family man, husband and father. I love and care for my wife and children.

Currently, I am the president of Myanmar Community Coffs Harbour (MCC). This is my third term as the president of MCC.

When I was younger, I volunteered for many different organisations and jobs such as the SES ( State Emergency Service) in Bellingen for two years and caring for elderly people at Bellorana nursing home in Bellingen, NSW. My role there was to be an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) and I provided direct personal care to residents at Bellorana nursing home.

As the president of MCC I have helped relocate and find work for many refugees from many different countries who have chosen to settle in Coffs Harbour .

I firmly believe in order to be successful as a leader, you must be accountable. I’m only human so I have made mistakes in the past and continue to do so, however, I have never shied away from taking accountability of my actions.

I have a passion to help people and I believe that if I was given the opportunity to become your council leader I could make a significant and positive difference for everyone. I have always helped and served people in the community in the many place that I’ve lived, doesn’t mater who they are or what they do, I would always help them. I want to serve the people of Coffs Harbour City and if you give me an opportunity I guarantee you will see a positive outcome.

I believe in Democracy and strongly support human rights/women rights. I have a dream and a vision for a multicultural society. I’m always willing to listen and respect other people opinions.

I am truthful to the people we serve and I assure you, we will overcome any and all challenges and issues together as a community.
