IT’S BAKING: yes the weather has been hot (boring) but the big news of the week is that our Tarts Anon cookbook is officially off to the printers!! Wow! It’s been a long time coming (over 2 years in fact) and we are so excited for it to be in our hot little hands by the end of July 🙌🏼

THANK YOU from the bottom of our tarts to people who have already pre-ordered it. The response has been a touch overwhelming 🥹

The book features pretty much all our favourite Tarts Anon recipes, including Classic Tarts, Not-Your-Average Tarts, Celebration Tarts (yes the Saint Honoré is included here) and Savoury Tarts! It has sections dedicated to pastry (of course), glazing and even portioning. It also has an Index, Appendix and individual Page Numbers but I think those are pretty standard. 🤔

We benefit a lot from orders that come directly through our website which is why I’m convincing Gareth to sign every copy we sell ourselves, just add in the order notes whether you want him to sign with his butt cheeks or (more conventional) a pen. 🖊️

THURSDAY IS A BIG DAY FOR PANDAN LOVERS AND WESTIES: It has had a long stint on the bench but we’re pumped to welcome THE Coconut Pandan Tart back into the lineup for the February menu! On counters from this THURSDAY! 💚👀

It’s creamy, fragrant, moist and coco-nutty, and it became one of the favourite tarts of 2023. A very nice slice, indeed. 😇

Might I also mention that also this THURSDAY we have our first delivery for the Feb menu to the WESTERN SUBURBS! We only cycle through each suburb every 3 or so months, so if you’re a Werri-bean, or live in the zone, so don’t miss out or you’ll have to move house, and we all know what the housing market is like. 🫤

DELIVERY is happening each Thursday and it’s a five Thursday month (crazy, right?) and YES I heeded your calls from a few posts back, and we’re delivering to many of the requested suburbs including, randomly, Diamond Creek, which I think we got the most requests for. We love you, Creekers!

2024 UPDATE: oh boy, it’s been a HUGE start to the year (how good is January?) and so much so I’m not even sure I’ve managed to get you guys completely around everything that has been happening!

Here’s a quick rundown:

🌟 We are putting the FINAL touches on our cookbook and it’s being sent off to the printers VERY soon. Pre-order now to guarantee we’ll print one for you 😉
🌟 We’re planning a VERY FUN but still rather secretive collab wait for it…. INTERSTATE in the middle of this year. 👀
🌟 The AO is in full swing and we’ve been serving (lol) tarts in the player’s lounge all tournament, which has been ace.
🌟 it’s the last month to get your mits on the Dessert Masters Black Forest Tart, but it’s ok because it is being replaced in Feb by something VERY exciting indeed. Watch this space!
🌟 After we admitted the Key Lime Tart uses regular old limes stolen from our neighbours tree, we have ended up sourcing some Key Lime juice so all Key Lime Tarts from now on will be the REAL DEAL. Tastes the same though, tbh.
🌟 We are OPEN in both stores on the Public Holiday. Pre-order to secure those slizzles.
🌟 I’m going back to work my real job next week at the hospital after almost 18 months, which I’m both excited and nervous about.

So yes, so much happening plus heaps more! The only thing we’re missing is a car collab lined up for 2024, but I’m remaining optimistic 🧐

KIMCHI & POTATO TART: we’re not exactly known for our savoury tarts, but I think probably wishes that we were considering a) how delicious they are, b) how very unique they are and c) what a fine balance they require to get quite right. 🌟

The name is kind of ironic, because there’s a lot more going on here than just Kimchi & Potato. In fact, the base layer is a savoury kimchi, leek and corn cake, topped with a thin layer of what we call ‘gochu-jam’ which is a basically a sweet & spicy gochujang caramel, finished with a Monterrey cheese custard and sprinkled rather heavy-handedly with a layer of housemade crispy potato crumbs and thinly sliced spring onions. 🌟

It’s a mouthful, in every sense of the word. But like, a delicious one.

WE’RE BACK, BABY! The new year is upon us, the sun is shining bright, the AO is around the corner (literally) and we are back and at ‘em for 2024 (from tomorrow). 🌟

We had a totally INSANE run into the silly season, have taken some time to reset and recharge and curate the PERFECT menu of tarts for January:

🌟 Key Lime Tart (our favourite 2023 special)
🌟 Chocolate and Caramel Tart (finally back!)
🌟 Smoked Pecan and Butterscotch Tart (enough chance)
🌟 White Peach and Strawberry Gum Tart (NEW and so new in fact I don’t even have a picture of it)
🌟 Dessert Masters Black Forest Tart (last chance!)
🌟 Kimchi and Potato Tart
🌟 Corn, Jalepeno and Parmesan Tart

SEE?! It’s a great line up. One of the best, probably, despite coming off the December menu which was also the best…They’re all the best, ok! 😬

DELIVERY is also happening, on the 18th we’re heading to the INNER WEST (Footscray, Yarraville, etc) and on the 25th we’re heading EAST (Box Hill, Ringwood, etc). Full suburb lists in comments.

WHOOPSIES: On menu tarts I didn’t really get a chance to talk about and now it’s (almost) too late. 👀

🌟 Cherry and Gingerbread - a spicy take on our ever-popular Cherry and Almond Tart, inspired by a dessert Gareth made as an apprentice 1,000,000 years ago.
🌟 Christmas Ham - what we call the ‘Boxing Day sandwich tart’, but I promise it’s not made with leftover ingredients. Christmas Ham cake and bread sauce custard with crispy pork scratchings on top.
🌟 Eggnog and Fruit Mince - the king of the Christmas tarts that will make you rethink your opinion of fruit mince if you sit in the ‘I hate fruit mince’ camp. A spicy and boozy vanilla custard with a sweet and sharp fruit mince.
